I am on Rifamin/Zith only for a month ( and Ceftin about 4 months )
I seem to read that Minocycline seems to be really superior at passing BBB.
I am not even sure if Rifamin is ( think I read it actually wasn't ? )
I have LLMD app. in couple days, and I know he will ask how Rifamin is going, ( its not going anywhere , but I wouldn't expect so fast at such low dose )
He is very open to my suggestions.
I need the antib that will get in there.
I have very few "body" symptomes these days ( outside of consist muscle twitching some numbness )
my stuff is all: writing, speaking, thinking, visual, recall, fog etc.
anybody love Mino or love Rifamin or some other for the brain..?

I also did not have body pain, per say, really just headaches (I don't say that lightly), neck stiffness, constantly trying to loosen up the muscles there.
However, the neuro part: word searching while speaking, memory issues, recall yes, profound insomnia.
It was bartonella and Lyme, both. I took Mino at the end of treatment for a few months, for me, didn't care for it, no wow factor,
but that was after treating bartonella extensively, and Lyme with Bicillin shots and Tindamax (and other orals and herbs)
If you have had this over a year, and are deeply infected to where you have these types of neuro issues,
you can't expect it to all clear up in your first 6 months of treatment. Hang in there- Detoxing is a huge piece, too.

thanks surprise, I am well over 7 yrs ):
just didn't want to waste ( anymore ) time with Rifamin if its not a good one for Bart..
that's what I assume we are treating as well

I've been on Mino, Rif, and Plaquenil since late October. This is my second round on Rif, and my first time was 2 years ago with Zith and Doxy.
The past two years was spent mostly on IV Rocephin, Zith, Mepron, Bactrim, tindamax (16 months give or take) fighting Lyme and Babs. Then another 6 months with Mino, Bactrim, Alina; some of Buhner's herbs (CSA, Cat's Claw), and Salt/C hitting babs and an attack on parasites.
The first month of this round of Rif/mino/plaq was the worse I felt in a long time, then things started to improve significantly. This has probably been the best combo I can recall.
Hang in there with the Rif a while longer and maybe consider trying my current combo for a few months. I would suggest drop the Zith, add mino and see how it goes for a week, then add the plaquenil.

Rifampin is suppose to be excellent for Bart. You've never been on it before? One mistake I personally had with it was starting and stopping it, and then it became ineffective.
Yeah, I'm doing alright, I guess. Been off all antibiotics and herb fighters for awhile, but dealing with some gut issues, taking a hard look at this issue.
Frankly, I am not really sure what normal or fully healed is for me, I have no visible line I crossed from well to not well. But many things are better. Yep, many things are better.

Hi Lucy,
Mino and tinidazole together helped me get over the first few months of neuro lyme.
Rifampin and zith getting Bartonella helped even more.
(Bart + Lyme = PITA neuro symptoms)
If your LL is experienced with coinfections, trust your LL.
Starting low with rifampin is an excellent idea.
Bartonella flares/herxes/endotoxins can make folks mentally unstable/suicidal/violent/delirious etc.
Mino is a goodie.
Surprise is right. Stopping rifampin can only be done once. It doesn't work again once it is stopped according to the majority of LNers.
