How long do most people stay on IV therapies before returning to oral antibiotics? [confused]

My son did four months, then went to orals. I think it depends on your symptoms, your doctor's inclination and what your insurance company is willing to pay for.

For neuro-lyme issues 6 months to 1 year is recommended.

I started with 20 month on orals (12mo with 1st LLMD, then switched LLMD), then 13 months IV Rocephin and another 3 months IV doxy, while mixing in various other Lyme and co orals.

Its been 10 month since PICC was pulled and still battling co's.

good luck

This is different for everyone. I got off IV at 18 months. Had a good six months of remission and now I am back on a three month pulse of orals to hopefully kick out the last this.

I was on IV for 7 months. My doctor felt that there were diminishing returns ( I wish I knew what they were )for any longer. I am fairly certain that this opinion was for his protocol though.
