Are any of you with MTHFR using FIR sauna? Any special precautions?
We are considering getting one if it is as helpful for detoxing as people are saying it is.

Yes and yes. I take methyl protect, Byron White Detox 1/ NT Detox and Liposomal Glutathione (1000 mg) prior to going in. Start slow of course and dry brush before going in.

Hi MannaMe,
Yes, I have several mthfr mutations plus detox mutations and also an absent gene. (which I still don't grasp. Sigh).
Before my lyme dx I played soccer 5 days a week while working full time. I was in so much pain (I blamed it on the soccer), but I would use my FIR sauna each night.
I am so grateful for the sauna. I think it kept the wolves at the door lyme-wise for as long as it did.
For joint swelling, muscle pain, and seized spine and neck I go in the sauna. I position my spine (what normally hurts me the most), in front of one of the heaters while it is warming up, and it unseizes it.
Then I sit in there until I start to sweat, then I have a quick shower or tub rinse after.
And go to bed.
I have tried the mthfr supps-they didn't seem to help.
But the IR sauna helps me always. Everytime. And it is 110V/120V so I just plug it in.

Precautions:
Start low and go slow.
Even if you don't sweat.
Sweating instantly will come with time.
If you feel hot or the need to lay down-time to get out.
Should feel warm and comfortable. Like sitting in a lawn chair, (on tick free grass! ), on a calm hot summer day.
Where you are relaxed and warm.
Not where your body is saying, "time to go. Time to go."
And it is important to rinse off afterwards. Right away.
Even if you don't sweat.

Do you take any binders or are they not needed with this type of detox?
My hubby has a lot of muscle pain, no joint pain. He feels better while showering with very warm water which is why he thinks a sauna might be helpful.
Desertwind, what is the Byron White detox 1/NT supposed to help detox? I would like to get one of BW detoxes but don't know which is best.
Greta, what brand sauna do you have? Hope we can get a good one at a good price!

Hi MannaMe,
I don't use /didn't use any binders with my sauna before.
Now, I'm a spirochete-killing machine, I use NT-detox also, activated charcoal, chorella.
Also IV glutathione 2 times per week.
But before when I was just on orals, no binders, just showered after the sauna.
But, sorry for the details, I have never been constipated, always go 4-6 times per day, and I also drink a fair amount of filtered water.
So until the IV kete killing began, I could keep up with the toxins.
Now.... I need help.
It was built in Kelowna BC, but the electronics say, "Great Western Sauna".
I bought it used from a friend who was moving.
2 man-barely used. Sssssshhhhhh $200
If you can find a good quality used one made with hypoallergenic wood, that may be a good way to save some money.

I'm highly chem sensitive and do ok with FIR saunaing.
I also take Takesumi activated charcoal to aid detoxing.

Yes, take binder before going in. Chlorella is a good one. Byron White Detox 2 is also a binder (powder form) and my LLMD has me take both prior to the sauna.
Detox 2 is a binder for heavy metals, yeast, neuro toxins and parasites. It helps to clean out the colon pretty well....
NT Detox is more for supporting the liver but also helps to make Detox 2 more effective - according to my LLMD. At higher doses has some effect on lyme, babs and bart.

Another question: What brand(s) do you consider good saunas?
We are looking for a portable one to start with. Cost is also an issue.

MannaMe, I am also looking for a portable one but they all seem to have issues including high EMFs which many say to try and avoid.
The only one I have been able to find with decent reviews and low EMFs is one by Therasage but it's about $600 and out of my price range.
I was thinking of rejoining a local gym that had a steam sauna but I've heard that it may not be as effective. Does anyone know if that is in fact the case?
