My CD 57 test result was a 27. I know this is a low result but what does this mean?? Any help understanding this test would be helpful. Thanks.

It can just help to confirm Lyme since it's mainly lowered by Lyme disease. 27 is very low which can indicate an active infection to some doctors.

Others don't think it's so reliable. It used to be used to track progress and when it would be safe to go off treatment but not so much anymore. Generally under 100 is low and you would want to be at 150 or higher before stopping treatment.

Mine was 19 when I started and 16 years into treatment. For me that reflects how I feel.....declining. Others may never get a low number due to co-infections or other factors that doesn't mean they don't have Lyme. It's just one factor/supportive test result to back up your case.

Why don't some think its reliable?

I believe it was during the 2012 ILADS conference that one of the speakers spoke about how it's not really considered as specific of a marker for tracking progress anymore.

Also, a lot of patients diagnosed with Lyme clinically and by tests don't have a low number so it's not a good marker for them.

For me it started low, dropped when I felt worse. I think it is reliable in my situation. Although I don't know if it will ever go up.

My current LLMD doesn't base anything on it. My past LLMD did.
