Does anyone here have an opinion on either of the above?
When the doctor explains it, it all sounds plausible, but then I read that a normal person's colon needs all those various bacteria it harbors for balance and that a colonic can really mess with your digestive system.
I don't know anything about liver flushes. Is this something done as a last resort?

You could start with a liver flush... or even castor oil packs for the liver.
I've had colonics, but am not sold on them. I probably could use a round of them right now, but I hesitate.
I felt that they disrupted my colon for too many days each time I did it. I'm also not so convinced that all of my good bacteria wasn't swept away. Sure, they put some back in .. but ...
Whatever you do, do it in moderation.

I did coffee enemas, but for my severe digestive problems in 2011 (gastritis, heartburn, gastroparesis, and constipation) I think the most important thing was cycles of prescriptions of antiparasitics together with liver flushes.
After the last liver flush... which I will say was strong with painful cramps for an hour... I was 95% better.
I kept up with herbal anti-parasitics after that, and some other things (enzymes, benedryl at night, Betaine and Histame) and I got better. No more digestive issues other than a little constipation when I don't eat enough vegetables.
My son also did coffee enemas for detox, and liver flushes to flush out whatever might be living in the liver ducts.
He and I did not do colonics because they weren't being recommended back then.

Mary, I see your son is on Valtrex. Isn't that hard on the heart?
How long did you treat for your own care?

Lyme, I don't plan to do the colonics. It looks kind of scary.

I had great results from liver flushes. I felt a lot better right after them, then a few days later would start to feel sluggish again. After doing them several times a couple weeks apart (as directed on the Hulda Clark page), I felt better and didn't decline again.

I had a hard time with colonics and stopped doing them a few years back because they were too harsh...caused a pain in the colon and mood swings and weakness.
I have done coffee enemas and feel they are very beneficial. I feel great after unlike colonics. However I have to be careful because it can be too much for my kidneys so I may try to rotate with warm water enemas and castor oil enemas.
I did just find out that my liver is congested because of parasites so I'm treating for parasites and hopefully that will clear the liver.
If you do coffee enemas check out Wilson's gold coffee which is the recommended coffee for enemas-it's organic and unprocessed.

I don't feel I got anything noticeable out of the liver flushes. I did two of them.
I have found the colonics okay, but coffee enemas much better.

Woodstock,
His dermatologist is handling his Valtrex at this point for recurrent cold sores... basically he gets them with a week of going off Valtrex.
I only know about Liver issues, and he does regular testing for liver enzymes. Thanks for the info about the heart... I'll definitely research it and ask his dermatologist about it.
He's not being treated anymore for Lyme or Arthritis.
