I live in Houston and was wondering if anyone has devices they use to help clean the air in their home from mold and other allergens.

I use a cheap and easy DIY air cleaner:
a 20" box fan the best 20" furnace filter you can afford -- allergy level
tape the filter to the front of the fan so that the air is sucked into the filter.
This really does keep your air clean -- but I agree with ipkayak--you have to remediate the mold too.
I use 2 box fans with filters and I also use a propolis diffuser and a dehumidifier, all in different rooms.

I live in rental. The moisture issue in the washroom was the tile is broken, and the person who lived here before me didn't notify the landlord to fix it.
I am sure there is rotting drywall and mold in the walls behind the tile and around the tub.
I put in a request to have it repaired.
In the meantime, all the walls in my unit were painted with a high cover high seal paint. It is meant to seal in everything. I forget what it is called but it contains a fungicide.
It helps.
Then everything was recaulked and the grout was resealed.
It's a temp fix but it keeps the mold where it is.
I use Honeywell filters in two rooms, keep the bathroom and kitchen fans on all the time. Have an ozone machine in the hallway outside the bathroom, and diffuse thieve's oil 24/7.
It is a temp fix until the bathroom gets torn out and fixed.
If you don't have the funds to r and r now, maybe look into the paint?
It seals over nicotine and other tough to cover/seal chemicals.
It really helped my breathing after the paint was done.
