Labcorp.

Tested Feb 2014
D25 Hydroxy
14.2 Low (30-100)

Tested April 2014
Calcitriol (1,25 Di-Oh)
51 Normal (10-75)

Which one is the better test?
(Now I can't remember which one is for D2 or D3)

I took a few D3 supplements in Feb - made me sick - stopped.

Doubt I have gotten enough sun in the meantime
to raise my level significantly.

Of course I realize they are two different tests.
But???

Hi Susank:

The D25 Hydroxy is the Vitamin D test. Our body converts the Vitamin D3 to Hydroxy 25.

Yes you are deficient and should try to bring your Hydroxy level over 50, preferably towards 80.

I recommend doing 10,000 unit dosages twice a day for the next 3 months and then retest. Gel caps only.

Note I'm not a MD and there is controversy on what is a good level.

Good luck

Thanks.
One doctor ordered the Feb test - a different doctor the April test.

Apparently the doctors differ on which is the best test to use.

Then needing to supplement - with what?

I would rather get more sun if I only could.

The first one is Vitamin D3, the second one is Active Vitamin D.

If your Active Vitamin D increases when you take D3 supplements, but your Vitamin D3 does not, then you likely have a variant VDR (Vitamin D Receptor) issue that would need to be dealt with (such as Dr. Amy Yasko's protocol).

I had Vit D deficiency(very deficient)last fall, and when I took supplements I got really sick.

Sunshine on the other hand, makes me feel good (though a bit sleepy) and has no bad reaction. They say 15-20 min a day with just your forearms and face in the sun will bring your levels up.

Am trying that now that spring is here, and will have some labs next week to see.....
