I was curious if anyone gets really bad chest pains while on treatment?

I have been dealing with them for years while on ABX and actually have spent many nights in the ER because of them. Missed Easters, Christmas's, Birthdays etc..

There was one time I was at the hospital and I was in there for 3 weeks to try to find the solution.

The pain was so bad I had to have IV Dilaudid every 3 hrs.

The hospital never found anything.....

I just get really nervous with these chest pains.

When off the ABX, I might get a few here or there, but while on treatment it is an ALL day everyday problem.

Is it a herx?

So tired of this.... SMH

So sorry you are suffering. I would get off the abx and maybe try the alternative route such as herbs, salt/c, Buhner etc. Getting such terrible chest pains can cause great stress to the heart and body. Sea salt and vitamin C are great for the adrenals.

Did they ever find the cause?? I get really bad pain from acid reflux. The fact that your worse pain is while on abx says a lot.

Hope you figure out the solution!!

No they never found the cause. They said something about Mitral Valve Regurgitation, but said that I wouldn't be getting chest pains from that.

I don't know if it is a herx, but I would assume that something is going on because it mostly happens on ABX.

The pain stops me dead in my tracks and the heart palpitations along with the stabbing pain is enough to choke a horse.

I get numbness and tingling in the arms( mainly the left) as well.

I really don't know anymore... the hospital looks at me like I'm crazy when I go in there with chest pains at 28 yrs old.

Like I said.... I'm so sick and tired of being sick and tired. [bonk]

Some abx affect the heart very directly...like Biaxin, Zithromax and Avelox.

Yea I guess being on Zithromax isn't helping, but I am trying to figure out if it is a herx or worse.

Don't know what to do... I don't want to stop treatment, but I don't want to mess my heart up.

ughhhhhhhh

Chest pains can be caused by Babesia as Babesia can invade the chest wall.

If its not reflux or your heart, I would ask your doctor about this as my LLMD has confirmed this for me.

I get lots of chest pain from Babesia - often the pain comes in the form of random stabbing pains and over my heart area. Sometimes my heart even feels like its being squeezed.

Every time I treat for Babesia the chest pains get worse, and when I stop treatment, they improve. My son also developed chest pain when he began Babesia treatment recently.

I have been fully evaluated by a lyme literate cardiologist - I have mitral valve prolapse and an arrhythmia caused by Lyme - I have had every possible test available for my heart including a CT scan, and these pains have been ruled out as being heart related.

He also told me that QT prolongation caused by the macrolides and other drugs is mostly silent - we develop the condition and symptoms are not often present. It is something picked up on a EKG or when someone is doing a lot of fainting or has symptoms of passing out.

So if you have ruled out everything else, your chest pains may be from Babesia.

When we treat one infection, symptoms of another come out so this could be what is happening.

I would talk to your doc and see if the zith should be switched for something else.

I had two causes of my chest pain.

Screwed up electriical signals which cause my heart to mis-sync the beats. Instead of BA boom BA boom, sometimes my heart would go BA boom. Boom.

This caused me to drop on more than one occasion. Also any pressure on my heart, like a hug or exercise, my heart would stop. And I would drop.

The second cause of my chest pain was inflammation of the cartilage called costochondritis and inflammation of my actual sternum. That hurt worse that my heart stopping.

Treating lyme helped my heart return to Normal.

The costo is related, for me, to bartonella.

It went the fisrt time I treated bart. Now it comes and goes as my bart flares.

I am sorry you are going through this.

It sounds so awful! I hope treating helps it.

Just curious - what type of bed do you sleep on, and what position do you sleep in?

If it's costo pain, could be caused by inflammation (which will get worse while abx are killing bacteria) and sleeping on spring mattress. Do you have access to an air mattress?

Just throwing it out there because I used to get this horrible chest pain, and it was my chest, not my heart. Switching to a Sleep Number Bed did wonders. Perhaps throwing an air mattress on top of your bed might make a difference??

Thanks everyone for the great information!

Now that I am thinking about it.... it sounds like the costo.

I sleep on a pretty firm mattress and toss and turn a lot.

It would makes sense that putting all that pressure on my chest doesn't help.

I am still trying to figure it all out.

GretaM,

Your situation sounds identical to mine. Very interesting about the hugging and such... same here.

Thanks for all the great info!
