Out of curiosity, which co-infections do they treat the same way as BB?
I'm trying to cut down on the amount of testing and expense. I figure I don't need testing for co-infections if the treatment is the same as BB.
Do I really need to know what co-infections I have or if I have any and why?

I always have to check either Dr. B's Treatment Guildlines of Dr. H's new book (IMO it expands on the treatment guild lines).
Testing while problematic is helpful to the MD.
Doxy treats one form of the borrelia as well as Erlichia and one other (the time release Doryx is not the preferred type of Doxy by my daughters LLMD).
Mepron and Zith are good for Babesia and they do hit the borrelia (but not enough in our personal experience).
Grapefruit seed extract may be a substitute for Flagyl or Tindamax (for the cyst and breaking biofilm form of Lyme).
There is another herb that is good for babs.
Then there is Bartonella. Doryx and Zith can help with this.
There are a ton of combinations (one med is never enough) and it all depends on the individual (tolerance, allergic reactions, herxing all come into play).

Many co-infections aren't treated the same way and it can effect you treatment plan drastically.
Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever is treated the same way as Lyme. If it's really bad, the person should be hospitalized.
Insurance paid by doing the co-infection test through labcorp.
