I know that flagyl is referred to as an antibiotic.

I've also heard it called an antimicrobial.

Is it also considered an anti fungal?

Flagyl can treat certain parasitic and bacterial infections like giardia, C. diff, H. pylori.

Have not heard of it used for fungal infections, and it won't treat viral infections at all.

No, it won't help candida/yeast.

Flagyl is known for causing candida.

While on it, you have to be strictly on the anti-yeast diet or you will get yeast.

I took flagyl for something recently and had a prettyajor herx like reaction (I think).

Soon after starting it, I got a terrible fever, sweating, chills, sore muscles, all that good stuff. It lasted a few days.

I'm not sure what caused that reaction.

Any ideas?
