My husband has not been diagnosed with Lyme but has a few symptoms and has been married to me for 25 years, the entire time I had Lyme, 20 years unknowingly. He is 58.
He has been diagnosed with MGUS smoldering type. His biopsy and full body scans were done and we go together on the 28th for results that may put him in a mylenoma category.
Would I be crazy to bring up possible Lyme disease in his case? Read about a number of people having both. One theory is that Lyme creates the condition for MGUS to start.
He has refused testing in the past for Lyme. Enough to deal with 3 in the family in treatment.
Any experience or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would think he would be smart to get tested. I know that's a scary thing!!

I've had lyme 30+ years and was rebitten in 2010 and have been severely sick since. And I'm only 37 !!

I have MGUS and smoldering (inactive myeloma). The m protein is present in my blood, urine and bone marrow.
I check the levels every 6 mons to make sure it doesn't become active.

My oncologist told me it can come from chronic inflammation in the body. They usually see it in lupus patients but the last several years he has seen a spike in lyme patients with MGUS & myeloma.

As this typically is an older adult disease I am 100% this is all related to my Lyme disease. I really need to get my lyme under control to avoid it from activating it.

Knowledge is power and he should get tested because this can help treat his myeloma if he has chronic inflammation caused by the lyme.

He has too much to lose to not get tested.

Husband was diagnosed with multiple myeloma Thursday. He has minimal bone lesions and 40% myeloma cells in his bone marrow. Protein present in blood along with anemia. Enough criteria to be MM.
I have ordered an IgeneX kit and he is willing to be tested. He will have a bone marrow transplant in 5 months. Will be hospitalized for 3 weeks while they knock out his immune system and implant bone marrow.
I cannot stop thinking about what a mess this will be if he has dormant Lyme.
Any thoughts or advice?
