I haven't been on here in a while because my symptoms have been where I can handle them most days but yesterday I felt a sting on the side of my waist under where my belt was. I reached around a couple of times trying to figure out what it was and had my son look to see if there was something there and there was - A TICK!!!

I freaked out....I'm sure you all will understand my reaction....maybe not.

I quickly had my husband remove the tick and he got it all but the little bugger hurt. Don't know where he got on me but I don't believe he was there too long. I put the tick in a ziploc bag then in the freezer.

I've been sick to my stomach all night, have a headache and pain in my back.

This morning there is a raised spot where the tick was removed and I feel hot.

I believe I have some doxycycline somewhere in the house.....in your opinion should I take some? My doctor had a terrible accident recently and is out of the office for quite a while - the other doctors in his practice would not understand.

Maybe would be better to wait and see??

As always bless you all for being here.

Praying nothing becomes of this.

"Maybe would be better to wait and see??"

I wouldn't wait. After being reinfected last year I've been in a world of hell because I waited to take antibiotics and saw an practitioner who wanted to try alternative methods first.

Take the doxycycline. If you're getting a raised spot and feel hot, listen to that and get an LLMD ASAP.

A lot of times they have emergency appointments set aside for a new tick bite that's less expensive than the typical initial fee.

Nooooo leftover Doxycycline. Any doxy over a year old should be thrown out! You can't use old doxy because it can be fatal. You can verify that with your pharmacist.

If you need a new RX, see a doctor for fresh doxycycline.

Personally, I would take it. How much do you have?

Lymetoo, she needs fresh doxycycline, not an old RX.

EEK!! Doxy expires within 12 months time.

After that it becomes toxic!

After doxy. is six months old, it's bad. That's what the pharmacy told me.

Don't take the doxy if it's old. If not, I'd definitely take it and get yourself to urgent care to get some doxy til you can get in to an LLMD.

Ill have to check the date. I think within the last year. I developed a scratchy throat with a ton of white thick mucous this morning causing me to have to clear my throat constantly and making it sometimes hard to get a breath. Could be related to bite???

I'm trying really hard not to freak out but it's do hard not to. I've worked hard to get to a point where I can work and walk.

Blessings All!!

Yes, as Judie said, get to an urgent care for the doxy until you can see an LLMD.

Also, take a picture of the raised spot where you were bit.

What a bummer! Hope you feel better soon.
