For those living in epidemic areas, do you treat after each and every known bite?

I got bitten again 5 days ago.

Was bitten and re-infected 2-3 months ago (after feel good for quite a while) and finished 6 weeks of Doxy/Flagy a month ago and back on Babs treatment of Zythro/Mepron/ART.

So here I am with another bite and LLMD wants me to stay on Babs treatment but add in Minocycline this time around.

I took 3 doses and have a raging headache and very dizzy. I am just so sick of all of this and do not want to take the Mino. My body has had enough of abx.s over the past 10 years.

I was not feeling any new symptoms after this most recent bite but of course LLMD wants to be safe and have me do 30 days of Mino (w/ cyst buster).

My hubby, dog and myself are all on abx.'s right now. We have to move...or I have to move because I cant keep treating every single tick bite - my body is breaking down. I feel like I cannot keep doing this.

So, do you/would you treat for every single tick bite? DW

I think you are herxing cuz you have infection in you right?

Many llmds say it isnt good for the body to herx hard...but if it were me t think i would stick it out if i could cuz it seems it is related to new infection

Llmds have told me if i am bitten when on doxy the dixy will get the Bb right away in the blood and i wont get reunfected...same with dog on dixy

So the few times i got bit when on doxy ididnt worry about it and was ok

I think your doc is right to cover all the infections we know about since you were offmeds

Hope you feelbetter soon

No. I would be treating non stop.

So many ticks in my neighbourhood.

They say 20% carry lyme in this area.

Don't give up desertwind. Keep treating.

Thanks...Yeah, I hear what you are all saying.

Probably herxing and not wanting to admit it.

Sometimes I just get tired from it all and want to wave the white flag and give up but that is not an option. Thanks for the reality check guys.

I will stay the course. DW

Yes, since it could get worse if you don't stop a possible new exposure.

I think it's good to treat after every bite if you can handle the abx. I think your doc has you on the right path. Hang in there Desertwind. :)

I wouldn't stop treating, but I would keep track of your symptoms on Mino. I started with having horrible vertigo, then my face a neck swelled up. I was allergic to it. I do fine on doxy though.

Thanks Catgirl and Judie. Judie; That sounds pretty scary about the allergic reaction. Odd that you can do Doxy but not Mino?

I am having a horrible time with the Mino! So dizzy w/vertigo. I could not even get out of bed this morning. I am switching to Doxy and will do the 30 days....Then just wait for the next tick bite.

Yeast is already becoming an issue despite all efforts/supp.'s. Already blowing up like a balloon and taking all the best supp.'s and anti-yeast meds. Gut just destroyed from years of abx.'s.

Thanks again guys!

"Odd that you can do Doxy but not Mino?"

They work differently in the body. Mino targets the central nervous system and is lipid soluble. They aren't the same drug, although they are in the same class.

I have a friend who is the same way. Mino made her lips turn blue, she's been on doxy for years and has been fine on that.

Yes, these reactions are quite scary.

I'm also allergic to amoxicillin, but can do bicillin shots.

For me, it's drug specific and how it's absorbed that seems to make the difference.

Really depends on how long the tick was on you & what type of tick it Was.
If a deer tick & it was on you for most of a day, overnight, *AND/OR* it was "engorged" (dug in & swollen w/ your blood) then, YES, you need to treat EVERY (high risk) bite like that.
