ok, so, I am having a real rough patch of time here.

my whole family is sick from ticks (5 of us) and we are living day-to-day which is fine.

but, I have not drank in a couple of years, but recently find myself craving alcohol daily almost now.

this is so strange to me and worries me of course, but mainly because I have noticed I typically feel intoxicated with my lyme & co symptoms

such as dizziness or feeling of floating, forgetfulness, vision abnormalities and feeling kind of compulsively wanting to ignore my life and that of those around me

When I have a drink of alcohol it seems to not really make me drunk, but makes me feel good while the other symptoms remain the same- like I already was intoxicated but not happy like when you get a little tipsy

does anyone out there know what I am referring to?

put it this way: if I have to live like I am drunk (slightly) anyway, why not feel a good kind of buzz from real alcohol?

and side info here- I couldn't drink for years from ill lyme affects, but after my last couple months of treatments I can again drink without getting drunk on 2 sips or an immediate hangover that lasts 2 days.

If you choose to drink, be sure you take extra B-complex & molybdenum to help your body detox the alcohol.

I know what you mean. When I'd have a glass of wine at some points in my illness, I'd feel better because I'd feel like I was supposed to feel the way I always felt anyway. I did end up not being able to drink, but early on, that's how I felt.

Now that I'm well, I hate the way alcohol makes me feel because it feels too much like Lyme, so I don't drink at all.

razzle, my llmd says to wait to take Bs since I have always had issues with my body utilizing them, and he suspects because of disaease so he wants me to wait til treatments are done and see if my body adjusts. maybe I will ask him now that my treatments are further along.

Sixgoofy, yes, that is exactly it. but I am oposite to what you did. I hope one day my drunken feelings go away and I can forget about alcohol.

I am just amazed at all this since I have never felt this way prior to infection - that I remember anyway. I have been sick for at least 16-20 years so it's hard to remember that

Six summed it up completely. For me a glass of wine at the end of a hard work day also helped with the physical pain and stress of having to keep going as if I wasn't sick. I know it's not advised... And I am not completely well... So who knows if that is why... But could not have gotten through my worst times with out it.

LisaK -

I know exactly what you are talking about.

I've been having similar cravings suddenly for beer this summer.

I too feel like I am drunk all the time.

I read somewhere that yeast (candida) makes you feel drunk, so maybe it is the candida that is actually craving the alcohol.

that is interesting betty. I tested neg for yeast but may be time for a recheck?

Beer got good water inside and lots of silica!!

Red wine has good antioxidant stuff inside and it is considered healthy in moderate amount.

We do take alcohol everyday through ripe fruits.

Any baby that eats banana is taking alcohol anyway!

If you feel good, lucky you! I couldn't take any glass of wine during lyme, or I crashed!

Sounds like you have a really bad case of candida/yeast and it is making you crave alcohol. Don't give in or it will all get worse.

Brussels, I used to crash immediately, but have felt better last couple months, so I figured, why nhot. but now I have noticed that some days if I drink I get drunk immediately and feel horrible the next day, and other times I can drink lots and not feel too much of anything!

Lymetoo, that is interesting. I tested neg for candida, but I told the llmd that I have been taking live bacteria for years to battle it, and he said no need t o treat since I was doing that, but some times I run out and can't afford a new bottle, or I just forget to take all my doses

and maybe that is causing my cravings? especially now that he said I have eliminated lyme and some other things from my body.

Hmmm..... I wonder if you would retest for me, or make me wait until all my treatments are done. That is what he said other times when I asked about other things like vit efficiency and etc.

Hi Lisa, I guess if you do not crash, it may be that you're getting better!? I hope so!

I always crashed during active lyme, if I drank a bit.
