OK, I can't figure out what the difference is between Borrelia and Babesia.
They are both protozoans, yet Borrelia is considered a bacteria while Babesia is labeled a parasite.
They are treated differently from what I've gathered, too. Borrelia requires abx, but Babs receives anti-parasitic, or anti-malarial drugs, such as Mepron.
Soooo, how can they be so different when they are so close to the same. A protozoan is a protozoan, right?
And from what I'm able to gather, a protozoan is somewhat a cross between a worm type parasite and a bacteria (a smart bacteria). Am I way off track, or what? I've looked both agents up, and I have not found a good explanation to my question yet.

Borrelia is not a protozoa, it is a bacteria. The two are very different.
Protozoa => Domain Eukarya (same as fungi and animal/human cells) Spirochete => Domain Bacteria
