Haven't been here in a while. I have been off abx 7 months- longest I have ever been

It just got to the point I just couldn't take them anymore. I was feeling sicker and sicker. The first month off was horrible. I thought I was relapsing- my LLMD told me to step up the detox. I think once off meds my body was able to detox and I started dumping toxins.

Slowly, over the next few months I started feeling better!!! I am back to work, energy is good and I feel great.

I think sometimes it is time to go off abx.

YEA!

So no herbs? Support supplements? You were in treatment for some years, yeah?

Very glad for you :-)

Good for you!! Glad that you are doing well without them. I agree that sometimes we just need to go off of the abx.

I was on abx for 5 years straight. I did various combinations and saw two different (both good) LLMD's but for some reason the abx never seemed to do much if anything for me.

I think maybe the abx might have helped a little the first few years but nothing major at all. Half the time the abx just made me feel worse without ever helping me at all but for the most part I just felt no different...no better no worse.

So...about 4 months ago after I had trouble with yet another abx I decided to just stop them all together. I still continued with my natural treatments and supplements but I stopped all of my abx. And guess what...I feel EXACTLY the same without the abx then I did when I was taking them. Only now I don't have to deal with the abx sometimes making me feel worse than usual.

And a month ago I had blood work done to check on things after being off of the abx for 3 months and everything looked the same. In fact one thing was actually better. My strep levels that I have been struggling with for the last 5 years despite being on abx were actually in normal range which is a really big deal for me. I will continue to monitor it but hopefully it stays that way.

Also my lyme test through Quest was still negative last month which it has been since I started abx. I realize that doesn't mean much at all but I originally did start with a positive lyme test through Quest when I first got diagnosed. So just thought I would mention that as well.

I will continue to do natural treatments but I am done with abx. I can't see ever going back on them unless I start to decline without them. They just didn't work for me. You have to do what feels right and for me it just felt like it was time to go off of them.

So I agree that sometimes it is just time to stop the abx.

I treated 3 years with a well known LLMD- I got from death's door to remission on a low dose protocol.

I relapsed 5 months later- saw another LLMD, and did heavy dose abx, which trashed my stomach. After 3 years, I just had plateau'd so we decided to stop abx. Spent a month cleaning up yeast which was horrible herxing, then 6 months of herbal supps- banderol, samento, enula and cryptolepsis. I'm on a herb break and will be switching to different herbs next week

So, I got bit in 2006, started tx 4 months later, and here it is -8 years later.

I also take adrenal supps,, B vitamins for my MTHFR, pulled the carpeting out of my room (miraculously my 15 year battle with eczema ended) and a few others. Try to eat healthy and exercise

Since you spent some time cleaning up yeast, are you able to now eat a normal diet? Meaning fruit, the occasional desert, etc. without yeast coming back.

Thanks for sharing, beth. It is important for others to hear your story. I agree that each person is different and we have to listen to our bodies. Good for you and best wishes for your continued recovery!! [woohoo]

that is great!

I had to stop abx also.

I felt better right away, but I never could afford a really great lyme dr I wonder if I could have done better with someone knowing a bit more.

I go to dr now that treats with all herbals and supplements and feeling better and stronger.

Bumping this up....what symptoms came up for you that first month that you thought you were relapsing? Were they the usual BUG symptoms, ie; our Dr B symptom lists?

Or more non specific, fatigue, etc.

I am trying to determine the same thing.

First week off I had horrible fatigue, major muscle twitching, feeling off and bad stomach issues.

Then I started with leg/thigh pain getting worse-which i always thought was babs-now I think it was yeast!!

Right on Beths!

I stopped taking doxy when it stopped working for me. I feel better doing herbs. Occasionally I do some abx for parasites though. I can handle them occasionally, but not all the time.

Good for you for following your gut. I think detoxing is the most important thing we can do for ourselves. Also supporting the body.
