I simply can't drink that much. well I mean I can but I spend all day in the bathroom. I go about every 15-20 minutes.
I went to costco and went twice. we stopped for a bite to eat on the way home and went twice there.
how can you drink that much water and not stay in the bathroom all day?

The most common recommendation is to drink half your weight in ounces of water.
However, sometimes it is not possible to do this.
I think a superior method is to drink enough to keep your urine clear (i.e., not cloudy) and slightly yellow (may be neon yellow at times if you take B Complex vitamin supplements).
That's how I regulate my IV hydration...seems to work ok, and my doctor said that was a good method for me to use.

well I weigh 200 so half is 100 ounces right.
but how do you ever get anything done?
or is it normal to go this often when you dr i nk this much water?

So a good place to start is to go with the standard 8 glasses (8 oz.) per day. Do this for a couple of days and observe the color of your urine. If it is too dark, increase by 8oz. every couple days until you get the desired urine color.
Keep track of how much total ounces (or glasses) of water you're drinking, so you know how much you need to keep your urine color good (want pale yellow; darker yellow = not enough water; no yellow at all may indicate too much water).
Hot weather, changes in physical activity level, and changes in relative humidity level may affect how much water you need on a given day.
So that's why it is a good idea to keep an eye on your urine color so you can tell when you need more (or less) water.
The above is just my opinion. Might be interesting to ask your doctor about this method to see what he/she recommends...

Keep in mind that the standard recommendations for 8 glasses per day includes food that contains water, ie fruit.
Agree with the rec to drink enough to have pale yellow urine (except for the first one of the day).

If you drink SMALL amounts at a time you will not have to run to the bathroom that much. Believe me, I know all about those trips!!
When you drink a little at a time, your body USES the water and it doesn't go straight to your overflow container... the bladder. Posted by randibear (Member # 11290) on :
well I think I'm dehydrated badly. my arm skin looks like a riverbed and when you pull up the skin of my hands it won't go back down. I've had a head ache constantly and I just feel really tired and rundown.
how long would it take drinking this much water before I feel better?
my sister called it "prolonged dehydration".

Oh no, Randibear - what about going to an ER to get a bag full of IV fluids?
Posted by randibear (Member # 11290) on :
uh that's a no. suffering from cash flow problems right now.
hopefully drinking all this water will help huh?

Randi-in order for water to be absorbed by cells, it needs minerals for osmosis.
If you are dehydrated, (sounds like you are real bad), you should drink water with a sprinkle of sea salt in it.
Or coconut water, which has magnesium and potassium also. Important for dehydration.
When I used to play sports, we were cautioned about also having a bit of salt.
Otherwise plain water, when one is dehydrated, doesn't get absorbed.
Also a squeeze of lime or lemon, or even slices of fruit in your water with a small sprinkle of salt will help too.
Hope you can get hydrated soon. XOXO Greta

Are you diabetic?
When your blood sugar is too high, the kidneys filter more water out of the blood, causing you to urinate constantly.

High blood pressure also makes you pee frequently
Posted by randibear (Member # 11290) on :
um not that I know of. but my mom was. and I have high blood pressure.
Posted by lymeinhell (Member # 4622) on :
And that's why you would be peeing like crazy. High

And that's why you would be peeing like crazy. Uncontrolled high BP taxes your kidneys and you go many many times a day. Sipping all day rather than gulping will help with how often you go though

- Bladder spasms, bladder irritation can also cause frequency, urgency, etc.
Low magnesium can contribute to the muscle issues with spasms.
Certain spices, vinegar & fermented foods, alcohol (even from tinctures), caffeine can irritate the bladder wall, too.
Any kind of soda pop (or whatever it's called in your region), too. -

my husband came in from lunch and said one of his friends was just complaining about this very thing.
he went to the doctor and he put him on grape seed extract.
haven't heard of that.
but skin looks better today and my hands are also good. my right hand is the one that a nurse blew the vein out in a hospital. ever since I've had a horrible looking hand. the veins stand up and it looks 20 years older than my left. I've tred everything but nothing works.

I think a small glass helps a lot! 8 oz is not all that much... But we are so used to the 20 oz bottles... That's my trick anyway.

Just keep it up .. little by little and you will get there.
Agree with the need for minerals, sea salt (just a little), and plenty of magnesium.

I have awful time getting my kidneys, bladder to work.
I drink tons of Diet (Splenda) cranberry juice diluted with water. I drink various teas, a little coffee. Watermelon helps. Low calorie Gatorade helps get in those good electrlites. Occasionally I drink Gingerale 10, maybe mixed with cranberry juice. And I drink bottled water.
Keeping well hydrated is essential. Oh, and I take Milk Thistle 2x day to clear liver
