Hey all,

I received my Quest CD-57 test results today and am stymied.

(I've read through several posts suggesting IGenex is best, and Labcorp is better, but right now, I can only use Quest.)

I copied and pasted exact results below. They certainly don't make it easy to read.

CD57, CD3, CD8, FLOW EZ

CYTOMETRY

CD57+/CD3- OF % LYMPHS 3 (range 1-10%)

CD57+/CD3- OF % WBC 1 (range 1-4%)

CD27+/CD3- ABSOLUTE 58 (range 20-258 cells/uL)

CD57+/CD3-/CD8- OF %

LYMPHS 2 (range 1-5%)

CD57+/CD3-/CD8- OF % WBC 1 (range 1-3%)

CD57+/CD3-/CD8- ABSOLUTE 39 (range 20-114 cells/uL)

CD57+/CD8- OF % LYMPHS 4 (range 1-15%)

CD57+/CD8- OF % WBC 1 (range 1-4%)

CD57+/CD8- ABSOLUTE 78 (range 20-248 cells/uL)

In this thread (http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php/topic/1/126846#000007) @seibertneurolyme mentions that for Quest, the important thing to look at is the "absolute" number, but that threw me off because I see 3 absolutes.

Does anyone know which "absolute" to go by?

Quest doesn't do the same test. It is not of interest.

The "CD" stands for "Cluster Determinants", and they're like nametags for different types of cells.

The R. Stricker paper that put CD57 NK1 testing on the map focusses on CD57+/CD8- cells.

So that final Abs value (78 cells/uL) would be your focus, and would be considered "low".

However, the usefullness of this test is really controversial, now. For example, my labcore CD57 result was 15 - scary low and a slam dunk for Lyme by Stricker standards, but my LLMD was not conccerned.
