I got a rx for this. Is it worth filling or does advil works just as well for pain?

daughter has taken it for about 3 years now for her joint pain. Though when she started on it, we had no clue her pain was lyme arthritis. She still takes it. It's similar to advil, but nice in that it's one pill per day. Her doc also has her on prilosec along with the meloxicam. She says meloxicam comes with his risk of stomach damage otherwise.
