Hey all, I've been recently diagnosed with Thyroiditis, the whole shabang.. diff/painful swallowing, sweats, chills, weight loss, hair loss, extremely feverish (100.5 the other night), increased body aches, etc.
I realize Thyroiditis can cause a lot of sx similar to Babesia. I recently tried some Babesia tx (Mepron/Zith) and had had a pretty good response last summer. However this time.. zilch. does it mean all my sx might be due to the horrible Thyroiditis I'm going through right now?
Can anyone share some light onto this area? Brain fog real bad too. thank you

Not seeing any mention of your lyme status. Lyme is known to attack the thyroid. My totally non-expert explanation for this is that it lowers the body temp to better suit borrelia.
The chills and weight loss can be babesia, as one possible cause. Is it possible you didn't treat it long enough?

Hi Poppy, I completed 9 mths of IV Rocephin then switched to treating Babesia. Last yr when I started Mepron/Zith, within a month I was already going outside (I'm homebound and was bed-bound for 10 yrs) and it was awesome mixed with horrible herxes. this time I had zero response.
I am seeing a new LLMD in the future and will run it by them.. a real head-scratcher. thanks for your input.

Are you talking about Hashimoto's Thyroiditis? Are you treating it?
From my experience, the majority (not all) of your symptoms sound like Babs. What dose of Mepron did you take before? Is it the same as you tried now? How long have you taken the Babs meds this time?
Are the meds expired?

Good question sammi. Autoimmune thyroiditis (hashimotos) may be like the other autoimmune markers that come up on testing in lyme patients. When the lyme is successfully treated, those markers go back to normal.

Thanks all,sorry for the late reply...been in bed. My dx is Subacute Thyroiditis. No autoimmune markers at all, super high T3 and T4 and almost non-existent TSH. Elevated SED rate too.
But I can still feel my babs flares, now I'm scared that after this Thyroiditis is over with the Mepron still won't work!
