Hey all!

I was out at a BBQ last night with some family friends.

They are all aware of my situation thus they have crowned me the family tick expert [Smile]

One our friends recently found a tick crawling up the pant leg of their 4 year old son and aware of my situation put the parents into a panic. The parent asked me, in general, how are toddlers (ie. 4ish year olds) treated for lyme.

All I knew is that LLMDs don't use doxy on kids that young...but I wasn't aware of what was used in place and the dosage. I did say that treatment length varies per the individual, but usually txt for kids doesn't take as long as adults. ...needless to say I did not feel like the expert. [Frown]

So....
For next time, what is the general ABX protocol for kids?

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Thank you!

Here's some info:

I think I read that amoxicillin was used in children somewhere, but I can't remember where.

Thanks Judie...I can't find much on what they use with toddlers other than "oral ABX" in that article.

Do you know the dosage of amox for kids? I'm guessing it's based on their weight.
