I've recently visited with an MD who specializes in infectious diseases. He told me that when combined the Elisa and Western Blot tests are 85% accurate. Is this true? Is it still very possible (greater than 15%) to have lyme after getting a negative result for both these tests?
thanks!!

Depends upon the lab. I wouldn't trust any infectious disease doctors.

If you REALLY want to know if you're carrying Lyme disease, pay the $200 for an Igenex Western Blot.
Get a copy of results, and look at the bands marked IND or positive (*).
Or, go to a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor for a 2-3 hour initial consult, since it's a clinical diagnosis primarily anyway.

Can also get a labcorp CD57 test and see how that is- maybe part of the piece to diagnosis.

- Even if you fall into the 15%, being ill is not what you want to continue doing. If you are ill, get HELP!
