My first appt. with an LLMD is still 10 days away and I am just ending a round of strong antibiotics and feeling sooo much better!
I have another 14-day supply of Doxycycline which I was going to continue with to keep the bacteria at bay, but I'm concerned that 4 continuous weeks on abx will affect the outcome of my IGENEX tests. Does anyone know the answer to this?
From what I understand, this will not affect the Western Blot, but for other tests I don't know. And if I continue for 10 more days I will have been on an antibiotic for 24 days prior to the blood work.
I tried to get an answer from the doc's office, but the nurse beat around the bush and could not give me advice either way.
I'm travelling 4 hours for this appt. which many of you can relate to, and hope to get as much done on the first visit as possible.
So, my question is, should I clear my system of antibiotics before my appointment/testing, or should I stay on them for fear that it will give a chance for the bacteria to return stronger?
Any ideas? And thank you!

Why not call Igenex Lab? Be sure to tell them that you have been bitten RECENTLY.
Personally, I would keep going.

Thanks, Lymetoo!
In fact last week I sent them an email through their contact form on the website but got no reply. Picking up the phone is a lot quicker and I will do that!
I'm glad to know that you would keep going.
Thank you!

Kinda of risky not to. You could always test later.

The only CDC positive result I got was when I had taken doxycycline for just over a month and was still on it.
It was a Labcorp test. Go figure....
My doc just said to take the doxy for a month and then test, no going off it or waiting.
That worked for me, not saying it would work for you.

You're kidding that's crazy!
You and Lymetoo convinced me it's best to keep the abx going. A Lyme friend of mine said he would do the same, too, so there's my answer!
Thank you, Judy!

Not a lot to lose by doing it this way. More to lose by stopping.
