For some reason, Abbott Laboratories has discontinued Biaxin XL 500 mg. I called them and was told that no reason was given. My guess is that it is not profitable enough.

This is a shame. Besides being a good antibiotic to treat Lyme, Biaxin works well with Mepron to treat Babesia.

Abbott Labs Takes On Sandoz Over Generic Biaxin XL

New York (September 27, 2005) --

Abbott Laboratories has sued European generic maker Sandoz over its plans to make a generic version of the antibiotic Biaxin XL. . . .

[a web search indicates that an appeals court awarded a "win" to Abbott - but no details as to what that entailed, or any time line.]
