My dog just tested positive for heartworm! He is

not showing any clinical signs yet. Anybody

treated?? Im not sure what to do that is the safest

way to go for my dog. The vet recommended Doxy

and antibiotics for the slow safe way. Anybody

done this with success? There is also a shot

called Aminicide. Given 2 times but i heard it

was dangerous. I was just wanting somebody's input

on this parasite and how to safely kill it

without harming my dog. [confused]

Was your dog on year round monthly preventtive?

Treatment varies. How old is the dog? In younger dogs it seems like they use a more aggressive treatment along with confinement as the dog is not supposedcto be very active. In older dogs the treatment is more mild.

Research the "slow kill" method.
That's what I did with one of my rescue dogs.
It worked. No confinement etc.
