Hope something here helps. For many, "detox" methods are too much. I prefer the idea of "liver support" for the most part, although when getting into heavy metals a more targeted "detox" activity may be in order but, still, many have to take it slow.

The main key: help the liver do what it does. A major part of that is to produce glutathione.

Some OTC products and some Rx can block that action, so be aware of that. (Acetaminophen, etc.)

Milk Thistle, a fantastic herb for liver support that helps the liver make glutathione can be too strong for many with lyme, too, so Dandelion might be a better fit.

Lots of (what I hope is fantastic) detail here:

LIVER & KIDNEY SUPPORT & and several HERXHEIMER support links, too.

My lyme doc told me to drink lots of water with fresh lemons squeezed into it. He said to eat 4 lemons per day this way!

While I treated lyme with him, I made lemon water my only drink. I drank it all day long.

People are amazed at how well this works. My doc said that lemons are a natural cleanser of the body and that water flushes everything out.

Here are some detox tips from Dr. H:

Herxheimer reaction (from 2010 Lyme Conference, Dr. H.):

Take-home message: DETOXIFY YOUR LYME PATIENTS!

It does NOT matter what antibiotic you give people, they will NOT get better without detoxification

For Herxheimer reactions: 2 Alka-Selzer Gold (no aluminum) in 8 ounces of water with lemon or lime followed by 6-8 capsules of glutathione or 1500 mg of oral liposomal glutathione.

70% will feel better in hours

On the topic of water: Dilution is the solution to pollution. This suggests that in order to help our bodies detoxify, we must drink more water

Indeed, water is key - and lemons can be very good, too.

Due to mouth ulcers (and lack of what seems like half of my mouth tissue) I've never been able to tolerate any citrus - or not much of it and really wish I could. Still, I found this out about lemon water and our teeth --

do not let it sit in your mouth. After enjoying a lemon drink (and a bit of stevia &/or a sprig of mint can make it nice either hot or cold),

rinse mouth very well with water. swish. Floss if there is food stuck in between teeth. But do not brush - for a while.

Do not brush for at least 30 minutes.

Citric acid (and, well acids from many foods) soften tooth enamel. they need to be swished with clear water and then just let be for a half hour before brushing.

This gives the enamel some time to harden up enough to withstand brushing.

Saunas. You can start with just a few minutes and work up as your body can handle it. Also dry brushing. If you can tolerate it, yoga.
