is it normal to not really feel any better after being on 200 mg doxy and two bactrim ds's a day for 6 weeks and then ceftin 1,000 mg and diflucan for 4? I feel the same [Frown] i'm not sure what to do or if i should switch doctors

It still feels like i kind of have a lightheaded feeling, constant headache it's like i've always been able to feel it in my eyes, top of head, and my jaw is always achy too. I also feel kinda out of breath but no other babesia symptoms

It's possible oral treatment isn't quite knocking it out.

I have babesia so that's making my treatment difficult.

I took doxy for 4 months and got nothing out of it. I don't know anything about Bactrim.

It took me 18 months to feel like I was turning the corner. Be patient!

I'd add more for babs. Mepron and a zith maybe? Or art!

Kaseyyy, if you've had Lyme disease for a year, it'll take a while to get rid of. Hang in there.
The GOOD news is that you're not feeling like death; some people don't have the horrible herxheimer reaction that most of us do!

Are you saying you're on Doxy AND Ceftin, or did you stop the first two to start the second two?

Bactrim, Diflucan, and Septra sounds like a good start, but if you're having any babesia symptoms, you will likely need an antimalarial. And DEFINITELY you will need something to break up the cyst form at some point (Tindamax or Flagyl).

PM me if you have any questions. I've been there and after 3 years of treatment am getting back to normal-ish again. There is hope :-)

LymeToo, you did oral antibiotics right? Did you say you got better in three years or so?

It takes sometime but don't give up. You will notice that as time passes you felt better than you did months ago. Unfortunately it takes time but hang in there and you will be get much, much better!

My doctor (isnt an actual llmd) put me on 200 mg doxy and bactrim a day and after 6 weeks i said i still feel the same basically and he put me on ceftin 1,000 mg and diflucan.. I am confused as to why he dropped the bactrim and doxy, i've kind of been still taking the bactrim too. Don't llmd's usually give you multiple abx?

Ralphi, your inbox is currently full

Yes they do give you more typically. That was kind of a fast transfer too. Typically I think oral antibiotics are done with three different kinds. You can pm me and I'll tell you what I'm on. You need to find a LLMD.

Took me four years, but I had think I'd had Lyme for about 42 yrs when I got diagnosed. It was a long haul. Yes, did it all on oral abx.

Dr offered me IV but I didn't really want to do it.

Kasey.. It may take you six months or more to get well. Could be longer, but with the RIGHT TREATMENT you could get well much more quickly.

Just curious if anyone knows, do spect scabs check blood flow in the brain? Like how does that compare to getting an mri with contrast for blood flow

Just curious if the weird lightheaded feeling i have in my head could be related to blood flow but i doubt that. I think i'll be making another appointment

Also i have been on diflucan for almost a month and take probiotic.. but after peeing i still feel like i have to and it burns. I did an at home urinalysis: normal. Could this be a symptom or another problem?

I'm wondering how accurate the home tests are?

Sorry about that, Kaseyyy; I've cleaned out my messages now. Back from a long hiatus :-)

Both the lightheadedness and burning when peeing can be Lyme symptoms; it's hard to sort out Lyme from yeast though, as the symptoms can be identical.

So a weird head feeling / pressure and daily headaches could def be lyme?

Posted by ralphi (Member # 33834) on :

For sure! Or co-infections. Mine was mostly Bartonella, I think. I tended to get headaches with that more.

Did your current doc do any testing? If he/she won't prescribe any more abx, you might ask in "Finding a Doctor."
