Is there a list somewhere of everything that will clear neurotoxins from the body?

I think part of what happened to me recently is that I had a huge die-off when I took levaquin AND cipro one after the other.

I read somewhere that cholestyramine will work; activated charcoal, and chlorella?

Trying to get a protocol going here so that doesn't happen again.

Those are rough drugs... be very careful with them.

The three items you mentioned may help.

It's true Lymetoo. I tried activated charcoal and was sick as a dog, had to stop after two days.

I think I've tried chlorella before too with somewhat the same effect. That's kind of why I was looking for other options.

Thanks!

Read Burrascano Guidelines, page 13 including the cautions and timing advice:

Be sure that if you use cholestyramine or Welchol pills you counteract them with lots of laxatives right off the bat. If you don't, you could have a serious case of constipation. One woman was hospitalized because she didn't counteract these binders right from the start.

I felt really crappy starting chlorella, activated charcoal, and cholestyramine. Go slower. I found if I did it every second or third day I wouldn't get that horrible, cumulative exhaustion. Within a few weeks I was able to do it daily. Two months later I am negative on the online neurotoxin VCS test, whereas I had been consistently positive before starting.

Oh man, where is the online neurotoxin VCS test?

I'm hesitant to try cholestyramine because my cholesterol is low already. This was why I tried activated charcoal first, I read how great for you it was.

Turned bright red and was sick for a week. I guess I'll try chorella next but I'm not hopeful.

Cholestyramine caused me much distress. I really tried several times and if anyone expresses trouble with it, I encourage them to listen to that.

There are many other ways, better ways, I think. It can really deplete the body of required nutrients, too. And colon issues can be just too harsh.

Chlorella was so nice to me. I love it (well, not the taste but how it makes me feel).

I couldn't do cholestyramine at all, and didn't do great with chlorella.

Here is what works well for me:
HBOT
drink lots of water with lemon
sauna
dry brushing

a lot of people swear by warm epsom salt baths but they made me feel worse. we are all different!

I wouldn't do anything to weaken the body at all.

Be sure you're eating protein with every meal.

Levaquin/cipro severely depletes a person.

Those are all good tools. If you're still interested in trying a binder perhaps bentonite clay would be gentle enough.

Thanks, I have some of that. I've never taken it though. I also have diatomaceous earth.

Crazy the things you collect when you're sick...

I just posted on the homeopathy thread my experience with binders and how they kick my butt more than anything, but that this fades completely after a couple weeks.

My take on this is that if my body decides to release more toxins as a result of my binding some in my gut, it probably knows that it's better to get this noxious crap out of my system. Interestingly while living in a moldy house my system would make no such decision. It does seem to have some wisdom on this front.

Binders may work, but the other strategy is to take supplements and herbs to lessen the herxheimer reaction or cytokine cascade.

The Buhner books use this strategy.

For example - l-arginine is one of the best supplements for this. Hubby used it during bartonella treatment, but was not aware that it also is very useful during Babesia treatment.

The dose of l-arginine hubby took was 500 mg either 2 or 3 times daily on an empty stomach. The new Buhner book suggests 2000 mg 3 times daily during Babesia treatment.

L-arginine should not be taken if shingles is active or during a herpes outbreak. Also may affect blood sugar levels and lower blood pressure.

The new Buhner book has an extensive list of herbs that are cytokine disrupters and lists them for each inflammatory cytokine such as TNF alpha, MMP-9, Il-1 beta etc. Pages 158 and 159 in the Babesia book.

If you are one whose immune system does not make adequate antibodies to get rid of certain toxins, (borrelia being one that some ppl have trouble with) then you need specific binders to get rid of the toxins.

Cholestyramine often makes lyme patients sick because it can increase inflammation which is why some ppl take actos to downregulate cytokines. Actos is a prescription drug that has it's own problems.

Search the archives for lists of binders. Charcoal is thought to be less effective than cholestyramine so perhaps that is a good thing to start with.

Epsom salt baths do not bind borrelia toxins. Epsom salts are not tolerated by anyone who has sulfur issues. Similar problems occur with chlorella.
