So happy. I really need this. Will keep you posted.
Getting a gallbladder ultrasound this week, just to be safe.

Lucky you. I need it too.

Ugh. I hope you find a way, poppy.
We have a handful of OK Lyme docs in my area, but none did IV in the way I felt I needed it. So I've been on orals for 7 years (20+ years illness).
This doc has trained w Dr. J in DC and others, and I think she gets it. I finally feel like we have someone who may understand the severity and complexity of this disease, and is willing to assume the risks involved with offering appropriate treatment.
We'll see. For all I know, the DoH could shut her down tomorrow.
This came out of the blue. I didn't think I would get to do IV. We're borrowing the money, of course.
Don't give up. I really hope you find a way.

Thanks.
Guess you know there are ways to lessen the cost of this, doing some or all of it yourself, instead of using a home health company for the whole thing.

Thanks for the reminder. Yep, time to do my financial research.

Boxermom...I had success with IM Bicillin. Might you try that before the IV? Dr. H really likes the results! best to you!
Posted by supergirl (Member # 26936) on :
Dr H does the hardcore treatment! NOTHING more frustrating or painful than KNOWING you need the IV or IM treatment and having a lyme doc who tries to convince you otherwise.
I knew I needed it. And, I was right! love to you!

Good luck Bover Mom!
Yes check out the ways you can save. When I did it, I changed my own port needles and did my own blood draws through the port. The sample was then sent to a lab.

I did rounds of IM Bicillin for 2 years. It was great at first but then not so much.
Thanks for the best wishes. Will definitely keep you posted!

Boxer, are you getting a picc or a port and what's the IV drug plan your doc has laid out? (which drugs, how long?). Just curious how people are going about this.
Posted by BoxerMom (Member # 25251) on :
My consult is April 3. That's when we'll work out the treatment plan.
No PICC or port. My doc has an infusion room. Patients come in 3x/wk for IV infusions. I don't know if they write scripts and orders for home nurse visits, or if everyone comes to the office. I suspect everyone comes to the office.

Hot diggity dawgs!
Good luck and keep the spirits up! You certainly deserve some help and so glad you are finally getting it!

I did IM bicillin...sp? It worked great!! I'm so happy for you, boxermom, that you will get this treatment! The IM Bicillin is what put me into remission.

BTW - I did IM Bicillin for 1 year. At first, I had a mild setback when I tried to stop, but I gave it time and my immune system strengthened and took over. Something inside told me that what my body needed was to strengthen my immune system in order to get over the hump.
Getting off of all sugar and processed foods except for fresh fruit is what brought me to 100% wellness

IV is the bomb!!
I did Artesunate the first week, then Clinda/Zith/Artesunate for the second week. I go M/W/F.
All my symptoms go away after IV. I don't even herx. I feel normal. It's weird. I forgot what it felt like to feel good.
I do Clinda/Zith/Art again this week, then take a week off. Will keep posting. We're mostly targeting Babesia.

Thank you!
I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high. My symptoms come back the day after IV.
But, so far, this seems to be better than orals for me at this point.

What a great report, BoxerMom!!! Hang in there! It takes time. The way it worked for me was the good days became more frequent and the bad days eventually faded.
