I'm super sensitive to soaps and am having trouble finding anything that won't irritate me and my skin. Also get bad aches/pains and headaches if I'm sensitive to a soap.
Suggestions?

The only thing I can use is Dove UNSCENTED for sensitive skin.
I haven't tried Ivory, but that may work too.
Now to find an unscented SHAMPOO that works!!
You might also want to review this site in case something rings a bell with you here:
I know some use a black activated charcoal soap. Best used for washing off oils & grease, binding odors & drawing from pores. Ingredients: pure olive oil, lard, orgainic raw coconut oil, water, lye & activated charcoal. Handmade by: www.twowildhares.com Posted by sixgoofykids (Member # 11141) on :
I use castile soap. I use both the liquid gel and the bar. It's super gentle and all natural.

Lymetoo,
Me neither!! Everything with oils (especially olive and coconut) increase all of my Bart symptoms and more. So bizarre.

- Just in case you might use Epsom salts, that can be very irritating to skin. It's caustic to mine, anyway.
Also important advice from most dermatologists:
For sensitive skin, baths probably are not a good idea but very short, not too warm showers. Tame down the water pressure, too, so it's not hitting the skin too hard. And no loofas, just too damaging to skin. -

For soap, I use kids or baby body products. Rainbow brand and California Baby have been great. They can both be used as shampoo too.
I use stuff like French Green Clay baths to soothe my skin. (it's an alternative to Epsom Salt and can be used as a face mask for oily skin). Soaking in this, you really won't need soap. Don't get it in your hair though.
My dermatologist gave the exact opposite advice as above.
She promoted warm baths. RoBathol Bath Oil was one of her recommendations. (this is for dry skin)
It's been wonderful.
The dermatologist recommended no showers. I can't stand that long anyway and the water hurts my skin (doesn't matter the pressure).

- Glad Judie offers a bit more of a view. The oil in the bath likely helps a lot. Be very careful getting out with any oils, though. I always found that tricky at best and tried to wash the tub while still in it. Trickier, yet.
And it is true that so many showers have pressure that is just too damaging to skin. -

. I'm super sensitive to soaps and also smells...
I've been using (JERGENS - MILD SOUP) for many years, it's the only one that works for me. I buy it in CVS.
If it works for me, it may ok for you.

Isn't it funny how you find posts on here that hit home when every one else thinks your crazy.
I found this a few years back seems to work for me. I have very dry skin. Don't need an oil clear soap... But it has helped to eliminate rashes.... Coconut is a big offender.
I use johnsons baby wash on my face.

I use a natural alive oil soap.
and it is really cheap! 8 bars for $6. but, it is sold only that I have found at the local middle eastern store near me.
it comes in thick hand cut blocks and lasts long. feels so creamy smooth going on.

I'm partial to Chagrin Valley Soap and Salve ( http://www.chagrinvalleysoapandsalve.com/ ). They are an independent boutique soap and body care manufacturer that seems to make healthful products with certified USDA Organic (or wild-gathered) ingredients, and little else. They have many varieties of soap for various different concerns, kinds of skin, scent (or lack thereof) patterns and more. Besides their facial/body soaps, their shaving soap, shampoo bars, and deodorants are of particular interest to me.
For many years I've tried a wide variety of "health store products", many of which were considerably expensive, but found it difficult to find products that had healthful ingredients (or perhaps more accurately, lacked harmful ones), and actually worked as well if not better than conventional products. Chagrin Valley was able to deliver, often at prices below what one would expect from "health brands".
Besides Chagrin Valley, I would also suggest looking into Keys Soap (www.keys-soap.com ) and Bubble and Bee (www.bubbleandbee.com), as I find myself using certain products of theirs with frequency as well. They have a similar ingredient threshold and ethic, as well.
Hope this gets you started.

- Look out for: methyllisothiazolinone - it's even in some "natural" soaps, even Seventh Generation. Best to avoid. When I switched to Better Life "Dish It Out" instead, a rash on my hands go much better.
Also switched out my Avalon bath gel that had harsh (to my skin) ingredients I had not been aware of with
ACURE (mint is fairly calm scent. Their unscented smells awful, naturally though as the ingredients just smell). Very nice to my skin. Their shampoo is, too. But some really are strong scents. Mint is best.
