2 people I know have been bit by a tick and have been given a one dose antibiotic. One was my nephew and the tick was in him for 24 hrs. What is the effectiveness of 1 day antibiotic instead of doxycycline for 3 to 4 weeks.

One day is useless, but that is what IDSA changed their guideline to quite a few years ago, so that is all the majority of doctors will give you for a bite now.
I remember when the change happened, and that was the explanation from my husband's doctor.
