Hi there, I have been treating Bart for the past two months. Just a few days ago I started noticing pea size brown spots on my skin, which I think are a sign of Bart. I have never had these before. Why would they all of a sudden show up when I am treating Bart. Is this a good or bad sign? Thanks!

Do you have a history of sun exposure (even in your youth)?

They may have nothing to do with either bartonella or with treatment. Have you been in the sun at all this summer where these spots are? Even if not, past sun exposure might just have decided to start coming out and warm weather / the cycle of summer might just have your body "timed" to do this.
Do they look like the photo here? Liver spots / Age spots
. . . The spots derive their name from the fact that they were once incorrectly believed to be caused by liver problems, but they are physiologically unrelated to the liver, save for a similar color.
From the age of 40 onward the skin is less able to regenerate from sun exposure, and liver spots are very common in this age group, particularly in those who spend time in the sun. . . . -

I wouldn't say I am out in the sun too frequently. It looks similar to that picture, except smaller, perfectly circular and more dark brown

- These "age" spots can vary in size, color and even shape.
Any sun at all could just sort of bring them out or trigger the biology of it. Does not matter if "not too frequently" as more if it depends on the past. Maybe even just one sun burn in the past could also have set the stage.
For a better comparison, Google: Images "age spots" - just be aware that other kinds of spot photos can creep into that batch but you can click on a photo that looks close and go to that site.
A dermatologist should be able to tell if these are "age spots" or something else. The next time you see your LLMD, you might show / mention it. -

- Could also be a reaction to medication?
Or a sign of liver stress. When the liver is stressed, the skin often takes on extra work and can show all kinds of irregularities. Is your liver support top notch? -

I am 29, so I am hoping it is not age spots!!! I have been on good liver support for the few years I have been on treatment, and my liver enzymes are always normal. I hope they go away soon. Thanks for the help!

I'm thirty-five. I also have lyme and bart. They started showing up on my right hand a few months ago.
I have been thinking maybe bart too. But I don't know.

minocycline did this to me, strange brown round circles on palms, roof of mouth, legs, not very many though and went away when finished abx treatment.
