Are there any ways to stop kidney stones from forming?
Any supplements that can be taken?
A friend of mine has the most kidney stones in both kidneys that they have ever seen.
She drinks water, and lemon juice constantly.

- It makes me very nervous to just suggest a path for her, for anyone to do so, really.
She should consult a naturopathic doctor so that a full individualized assessment can be made first. A ND will also know the best advice for her diet, supplements and how they may or may not work with any medications she might be taking.
A ND might encourage her to also seek out a better MD to address this matter as it sounds like she's sort of been dropped because her case is just over the heads of the current kidney doctor she has as you don't say what they suggest about linking her up with someone with more expertise than they have in this matter.
It's really best to have an expert assess her in person. There is no way anyone here can know what kinds of Rx she is on, her condition or what might work for her.
If she drinks lemon juice constantly, I hope she rinses her mouth very well often. Constant lemon juice in the mouth can erode tooth enamel so I hope it's more frequent enjoyment vs. constant.
And, it sounds like it may be too much lemon juice. Too much of anything can be, well, too much.
And they should be ORGANIC.
Too much water, too, can be VERY stressful and damaging to the kidneys. I hope her doctor has suggested the right amount for her body and that she is distributing it evenly throughout the day, not flooding her kidneys at any one time.
I hope she can consult a ND or someone of similar expertise. In general, though, reading some articles or books by such professionals would likely be enlightening and empowering. -

- It's a good idea to NOT take calcium supplements, though until she can read up on that matter. Many calcium supplements can make worse trouble for those with kidney stones. -

- Chanca Piedra is something that she might want to study (but not take yet), as she arranges for a ND appointment. -

- Has your friend had some of the kidney stones examined to discern the TYPE? The type can make a big difference in the approach to correct.

Thanks for all the info Keebler. I'll have to ask her about the type of stone.

Tesla wand!!! I would give it a try. It may take some time to dissolve the stones, but there were reports about it treating exactly kidney stones!

Link me to the Tesla wand.

- Just search with "Tesla" in the subject line for Medical forum (or maybe the General forum).
There are many good threads that Brussels has here, recently posted.
Quote: In 1974, researchers from Harvard had a study printed in the Journal of Urology showing that calcium oxalate kidney stones (the most common kind) could be prevented by supplementing with magnesium oxide and vitamin B6.
In the study, 149 individuals with a multiyear history of recurrent calcium oxalate kidney stones took 300 mg per day of magnesium oxide along with 10 mgs a day of vitamin B6.
During the six years of the study, the mean rate of stone formation fell from 1.3 kidney stones per year to 0.1 kidney stones per year, a very significant 92.3 percent reduction. There were no side effects.
From what I understand, once you pass a stone, they examine it and then tell you the foods that you should no longer eat.
So, for example, a friend of mine went to the ER and had kidney stones. The lab examined what they were made of and told him that the stones were made up of something found in celery. He was told not to eat celery again.
This fellow ate celery sticks (along with carrot sticks) constantly every day for all the years I had known him! So, he got stones from it eventually.
This is why they tell you to eat everything in moderation. Too much, and it can cause trouble like this.
You will see celery on a restricted list in this article:
Wow thanks Carol.

I was put on a low oxalate diet...all the healthy food I was eating! Drink A lot of water, look into probiotics/kidney stones there is a connection there. Not fun stuff on top of Lyme!
