I requested medical records from a hospitalization and surgery in 2008 - I received both Cipro (which caused vomiting) and later Avelox.
Tendon pain/tendinitis has been an ongoing issue for me. Shortly after the hospitalization, I suffered achilles tendon issues. I'm putting this all together now...I thought the tendon pain was from Lyme, but now I think I got floxed.
How does one recover from getting floxed?

Whoa......I wonder if that is what I had in the IV during my surgery? My surgery was six months before on set of symptoms.

I am scheduled for sinus surgery this week and I told the Dr not to give me any quinolones ... he said, "Oh, we don't put that in IV's."
So I don't know if maybe quinolones are generally NOT put in IV's or not.

"Does it only effect tendons? Can it mimic lyme?"
Not just tendons. It causes peripheral neuropathy and all kinds of bad stuff. Yes, symptoms can overlap with Lyme.
My body just started breaking down about 6 months after taking levaquin several years ago. It destroys the bodies ability to heal, so cells are slow to be replaced and then you get more injured as time goes on.
Read through the top sticky in this forum. Look at Ask a Patient and read the FDA warnings.
Yikes..... Maybe they did not use it on me.

What upsets me most about the fact that they gave me floxies is that the hospital and doctors all knew I was an athlete. My super-low heart rate kept setting off alarms and they wouldn't worry since low resting HR's are common in well-trained people. Why would they give an athlete something that is known to destroy tendons?!?! It's just medical negligence!
