I wanted to ask if anyone has ever taken beta blockers for extreme anxiety?
Ever since active Lyme for about 8 years now i have extreme performance anxiety. It has affected by career to a point where i take a flight whenever i have to do presentations or speak in front of group of people.
I been trying many treatments for lyme but nothing has worked. So now i was looking for a drug that will ease this horrible stage fright i get in front of people.
Has anyone tried it out with Lyme and how was it?

I took them for my heart for a few years. Mostly they just made me very tired. They can actually do damage to your heart, but most doctors won't acknowledge that.
I hope you find something to help. Have you tried Natural Calm or ReMag?
My husband also likes Nerve Blend by Solaray.

- I know what you mean. Speaking - sharing information in my jobs - used to be a wonderful experience for me until lyme hit.
Beta blockers made it unbearably worse and created a hole I nearly never crawled out of. Passing out was just one feature of the drug for me. I had so much trouble thinking, etc. I had tried a couple different ones over the years and, even at low dose, no go. So very tired from the Rx.
Specific adrenal support was FAR better for me than the beta blockers I tried years ago that very nearly did me in, in so many ways.
Is there any chance you could see a LL ND who would understand the very unique and utterly profound effects on adrenals for those with lyme (most MDs and NDs have no clue at all)?
The "stage fright drug" in low dose that many musicians use has not turned out well for many of them, and that's even without lyme on the plate.
There are safer ways to address that adrenal surge that also involves adrenal exhaustion and a general clobbering of the entire control system.
You could try a few things for yourself but it would be much better to see a LL ND, if at all possible.
As for lyme, I wonder if rife machine might be of help as it sounds like that is still unresolved and, if so, all the adrenal support in the world can do only so much.

Lights, colognes, air fresheners in bathrooms, sound distractions (the air ventilation system, beeps from elevators or cell phones, clanking dishes, etc.). And the topping on the cake: flashes. No matter where, there seem to be flashes galore, no matter what.
Lyme creates a Twilight Zone of the senses. And the world is not kind in that regard.
The inner ear is often part of what goes kaput here, too, in this regard.
GINGER CAPSULES and MAGNESIUM . . . and FISH OIL are best basics with sensory support, along with adrenal specifics. -

I didn't take for anxiety, but I've had to take propranolol to keep my heart rate down for most of the past year. I'm always scared of new pills, but propranolol helped me significantly.

Lyme Borellia causes anxiety and Cats Claw paired with Banderol kills Borellia. My LLMD said that in lab tests Cats Claw had a 95% kill rate.
Nother herb I've tried in addition to Cats Claw is Ashwaganda which is used for anxiety. It also gave me a feeling of well being.

I third what Sam and droid have to say on this one. Inderal (Propranolol) has been a CRUCIAL part of my heart care -thanks to Lyme and company- since 2011. Without it,...well, there can never really be a without it. Many a cardiologist, electrophysiologist and LLMD concur in this regard (in my care/treatment). I actually require mine to be compounded, due to extreme sensitivities to various dye in the original formulation.
As a bonus, Inderal assists with my migraines (although I do take an as-needed migraine medication, as well).
Hope that if you develop issues with extreme heart rate/blood pressure fluctuations, certain arrhythmias, or other POTS-related problems, you will discuss the potential helpfulness of a beta blocker like this one (its been on the market forever).

propranolol is the one i have been researching on. It seems to have good reviews from what i have read.
I went to Germany to see doctor Dr. W and they actually found an abnormal EKG and i never got it checked but later the EKG turned out to be normal.
I have a very high heartbeat especially when i am anxious and nervous. It goes above the roof!!!

propanolol is the one you want. it's relatively benign as far as side effects but if your BP or BPM goes through the roof, I'd get on it.

Your doc gave you 'beta-blockers' for "extreme anxiety"?? Never heard of that. I was Rx'ed those before they knew it was Lyme, but that was to address my "heart rhythm irregularities". Just made me feel wierd, so I stopped.
You ever been on a "benzo", like lorazepam (Ativan)or clonazepam (klonopin)? They can often help, though they are somewhat addictive, so be cautious.
