Have taken Abbott 's Biaxin X L for over 10 yrs Tried Watsons Claritromyicin-- inactive ingredient-/alcohol caused drooping face that looked exactly like stroke victim Any ideas who makes a similar one to Abbott's brand? Thanks

No. What brands ? I formally paid 200 dollars in co pays a month just to get Abbotts brand ; the added ing are what seem to bother me. But , really, do they need alcohol (I know it's not the kind you drink) in them -- shame on Watson/ Actavis.

I don't understand why they put ANY fillers in drugs. For example, why add lactose to a pill?

They make more money adding that junk. Less of the main expensive stuff. Claim its to hold pill together.

When I had allergic reactions to certain fillers that were in my hormone replacement meds, I talked to my gyn about fillers.
He said that if the amount of medicine is very, very small, then they add fillers to the med and then do the measuring of the med using the mixture. This is easier to do and perhaps more accurate also at the very small doses.
The other and most common reason for fillers, according to him, is to hold the pill together.
Maybe lactose is sticky and acts like a glue.
The larger the amount of medicine in a pill, the more filler required to hold it together. So, that likely explains why some pills are so big.
