Swimming would cause me to be out-of-breath. Can somebody explain why?
Here are the details.
I started swimming a few months ago. Since I have a neck problem, I keep my head in water all the time. This means I have to stand up in water to breath every so often.
So, instead of swimming length-wise in the swimming pool, I swim width-wise. My breast-stroke would take me 20 feet to one side of pool. Then I would stand up, turn around, breath and pant for 15 seconds and repeat the same process again.
I swim slowly and comfortably, so I don't think it's an emotional problem.
Besides this short-of-breath during swimming problem, my biggest problem has to do with dizziness when I'm a little stressed. It feels my brain is not getting enough oxygen.
Does anybody have the same problem?

If you're holding your breath while swimming then you will indeed be "short of breath" when you stop for air.
Either that, or the chlorine is affecting you. I know it would affect my breathing.

You are right. I bought a scuba snorkel, and it proves I won't be short of breath quickly with swimming.
