Anyone ever feel their heart race and some anxiety while on cholestyramine? It wears off in 4 or so hours and I don't think it's toxins because I've never felt anxious from toxins before and it stops after a couple hours. Thanks,

Are there any additives in it? Some brands to have aspartame, or flavors. Also know that "natural flavors" can be a code word for MSG, too, and that's very excitatory.

If this is doing what it should (capturing toxins), you should not have an increase in toxic load but a lessening. So, likely, a different reason.

Also consider magnesium deficiency that can be caused by cholestyramine. In fact, cholestyramine can deplete us of many required minerals.

This is what I'd link to the heart rhythm racing, depleted magnesium.

Be sure you are supplementing magnesium at least 3 - 4 x day when taking cholestyramine . . . and take magnesium a couple hours away from magnesium / other calming minerals.

In addition to magnesium, be sure your adrenal support is on board, that may need some change.

I could not tolerate this, at all, even without anything added. So, after your body settles down and if you try another very, very low dose (maybe your starting dose was too high?) . . . after a while if it works, great. But, if not, I suggest not trying to make it work for you.

Some do well with this; some do not. And, for those who do not, it's not worth it. There are other ways, better ways for anything that just doesn't "fit" a particular body well.

Might also be low blood sugar issues.

Although cholestyramine helps the liver by capturing toxins, it does it a bit differently than actually supporting or nourishing the liver -- so you still require good solid liver support on board:

LIVER & KIDNEY SUPPORT & and several HERXHEIMER support links, too. Support that nourishes the liver / kidneys so they can better do their jobs.

It can intensify any symptoms you already have until your body gets used to it. (if it ever does)

I would call your LLMD to be sure about continuing it.

PS .. I would DEFINITELY add magnesium if it were ME.

Havent noticed heart racing or anxiety due to CSM but Ive been doing baby doses and not every day at that.

I have noticed I haven't slept as well and was wondering if it was binding my sleep meds even though I take them a good ten hours apart.

My system is EXTREMELY sensitive to everything but I am doing ok with this at small doses, seems a lot struggle with it.
