Ive been blaming my gut issues for years mainly on yeast but Im starting to think its bacterial a lot too.
Ive really noticed that fiber also makes me worse.
Anyone take rifaximin and could you please tell me your experience with it?
Geeze, what do you eat with yeast and bacterial overgrowth.
Thank you

Rifaximin worked for two weeks and then I was worse. That was 6 yrs ago and I'm still struggling.
Be careful because it will kill out any good bacteria you have left.
What do I eat? I don't even want to talk about it.

lymetoo, thanks. So would you say because the rifaximin helped you it confirmed you had a bacterial overgrowth.
My SIBO tests have come back negative but Im thinking of giving rifaximin a try just to see if my suspicions are right.
Yeast and bacterial overgrowth,if I could fix this I believe I would have some quality life again.

I think you might be right joe!
Be careful with rifaximin though. Ive heard of more people who had a positive reaction in the first few days, only to crash even worse later on.

I think so,every once in a while I feel half way normal and I know this is controllable.
If I could just fix my flora, easier said than done.
Ive been hell bent on yeast but Im thinking bacteria too now.
Pretty damn sick and struggling so Im thinking of giving it a try.
If you can find out what to target, well I guess you can make a plan anyways.
If I get better on rifaximin then I will know.
Still getting a little cholestramine in me but hasn't helped any.
Ive eaten no fiber or carbs the last two days just to experiment but obviously can't continue a diet like this.
Posted by S13 (Member # 42830) on :
So do you notice anything different when not eating carbs and fiber?
Posted by shoeless joe (Member # 45835) on :
OH yes.
Its no miracle not eating carbs and fiber but Im less sick.
Carbs get me congested, a racing nervous system and mind but an exhausted achey body, even worse insomnia with nightmares and many more symptoms.
Little carbs and less of all the symptoms above.
Same wholes true for the fiber.
Just can't correct the darn thing and A for effort for me.
Cant get the probiotics, antifungals in me, just get to sick and herx to much.
Im thinking maybe if I can't get the bacterial under control with rifaxamin maybe that will help my body.
I don't know,its a bunch of I don't knows isn't it.
See my LLMD in about 6 weeks,I will think on the rifaximin and also thinking on maybe a stretch of FMTs.
I know its all GI and food related.I know I could feel well if I can just figure it out.
Absolutely take care of your gut and watch your diet if you're just starting ATBX.
God bless and thanks lament folks

- Exactly .. why take it "just to see if you have SIBO?" Not a good enough reason if you get WORSE.
Posted by shoeless joe (Member # 45835) on :
Im certainly listening,decisisions.
Cant afford to get worse, just about at my coping limits now
Have to do some research, how to treat bacterial and fungal
I can't to anything in me right now, need something and thought rifaximin may give me the jump start I need.
Thanks,little desperate

Maybe consider a couple of days rifaximin, followed by water fasting, clean out enema, and a series of FMTs?
Out with the old, in with the new!
Im also investigating FMTs now, results from my donor should come in any day!
Daily FMTs may take a couple of weeks to work, and sometimes a different donor is needed.

Thats an idea
Yes from what I have read to get the flora established you need at the least a minimum of ten days.
I only did three but no herxes or reactions, good or bad.
If you don't mind please keep me updated if you try FMT.
Can you get probiotics or antifungals in you?
Posted by S13 (Member # 42830) on :
Probiotics i handle fine. Prebiotics is a totally different story though.
Antifungals make make all of my symptoms worse. The same happens with antiprotozoals and some antiparasitics.
Im hoping to start my FMTs somewhere next week Posted by shoeless joe (Member # 45835) on :
do you think your disbyosis is fungal and bacterial?
Posted by S13 (Member # 42830) on :
A small part might be fungal, but the majority is bacterial.

Hi Joe,
Did you end up trying the Rifaximin?
A family member is going to be doing the breath test for Sibo soon.
I was just wondering if you tried the med and if it helped.
Good luck, I hope you find something to make you feel better.

hi Jane
I haven't tried the rifaximin yet and haven't yet decided if I will.
I see my LLMD in a month or so and may discuss it with her then, she has mentioned trying it in the past.
Ive tested negative for SIBO but don't put much stock in test results anymore.
What to do? Hmmmmmm

Thanks for answering my post.
Good luck with everything, I hope things improve and get better for you.
