I am adding this to this list of possibilities.

If one had LG - wouldn't something show up on basic bloodwork - like a CBC/Chem Panel? Are there tests for this?

What is the best treatment for this? I see where various LG gurus write about it - any particular guru has the best plan?

To add: I am having a hard time envisioning food particles leaving the digestive tract and ending up in other parts of the body. Solids?
Liquids? Where? In blood?

The stomach acids tear the food we eat down into tiny bits.
The pancreas secretes enzymes that break these bits down into molecules.
The liver secretes bile which saponifies fats, breaking them down into tiny globules.

The proteins we eat are supposed to be broken down into amino acids, which can then be absorbed by the villi (little fingers) in the intestinal walls.


When the amino acids are absorbed through the intestinal walls, the blood stream picks them up and circulates them throughout the body to be used for cell construction and repairs.


When the walls of the small intestines are inflamed, they are swollen and the tight fit of the cells with each other is loosened.
This means that particles larger than amino acids can cross through.

So proteins that are not yet fully digested (broken down into amino acids), can pass through the intestinal walls into the blood.
(Leaky gut syndrome.)

This causes problems.
The body perceives these protein molecules as "other," meaning "not myself."
It tries to fight them, and this results in allergies and other problems.

What a great explanation. What are some of the causes for the wall becoming I'm flamed in rhe first
Place ? Is one cause the bad bacteria taking over?

Thanks for that good explanation, Carol. Do you know if there are any other things we can do to protect our guts besides dietary changes?

I worry about the damage long term ABX can do to the lining of my gut. I am taking kefir and probiotics away from the ABX. I am also drinking a small amount of unsweetened aloe vera juice daily.

I wonder if taking something like food grade diatomaceous earth helps or harms the inflamed gut lining.

You can reverse LG symptoms very quickly as the zonulin that line our gets get replaced every few days with new ones. The proper diet needs to be more ongoing though so it doesnt return.

The indicator of LG for me was that a few mere sips of water first thing in the morning would leave me feeling completely bloated.

A candida diet is what you need but stick with cooked vegetables. Maybe a little brown rice.

The best way to reverse symptoms is to eat coconut oil for breakfast and lunch if you can, then eat a mid-afternoon snack and dinner. This heals it really fast and kills any candida too.

You will find row a while that any grains/carbs leave you feeling pretty awful. I remember eating popcorn one day and then needing to sleep for the rest of the day.
