My doctor told me to start taking my antibiotics 3 Days on and then 3 Days off. Has anyone heard of this way for treating Lyme?

Does it work?

From my understanding, there is some disagreement in the field about whether or not to pulse. Again, from my understanding only, the theory behind pulsing is that spirochetes reproduce in cycles, so you want to kill them during the reproduction phase, hence the pulsing.

Apparently it also "confuses" the spirochetes and allows them to be less evasive from antibiotics and also inhibits persisters from reproducing.

I don't know a lot about this, so please seek out other information. Best wishes.

I did it. I guess it worked for a while. A little easier on the gut.

Daphnesmom1, what do you mean it worked for a while? What did help you?

Supposedly it's because these infections have really long lives (like Borellia has a 4 week life cycle, Bartonella is I think 12 days, and Babesia I'm not sure, but the red blood cells it lives in last 4 months).

So, my LLMD said that you should have the drugs in your system all the time, but having them at a full therapeutic dose may be less important than minimizing your side effects.

I could be wrong about all this, though. Good luck!
