I had lyme, babesia and bartonella 10 years ago. I have relapsed again since Aug.

On mepron and zith.

I have a lot of neuro symptoms like tingling, weakness, heaviness, fatigue and buzzing in arms and legs. How much magnesium and what kind have you taken in past for neuro symptoms? And any other suggestions for treatment, antibiotics or herbs is very welcomed for neuro relapse. Im not sure if the neuro symptoms are more from lyme, babesia or bartonell. I live out in California and we don't have the expertise here like you do back East it seems.

Lymetoo posted a really good article the other day which explained the different kinds of mag. It was the best breakdown I have seen. Sorry I don't have the link handy.

The type matters as some can cause loose bowels. While that may help, to a degree . . . the other kinds that do not help are more practical. Various options in links set. Glycinate is a good one.

Important: it does not hang around the body long so needs to be taken in divided doses so that we have a supply always "with us, in us" so to speak, 3 - 4 x day.

Never all at once as, since it clears so fast, that would be far too much magnesium stress on kidneys at one time and could cause damage.

Good to have an INTRACELLULAR blood test to best guide your individual plan of action.

Some need to get up to 1,000 - 2,000 mg total a day (2,000 mg per day seems to be the upper limit).

You also need D3 and vitamin K (in green leafy veggies) to be able to metabolize magn.

LymeToo's article to which WPinVA refers is near the end of this set:

OK thank you! I got from your info:
"Take about 200 mg 3 x a day -- but many do better with up to 1,000 mg - or even 2,000 mg a day (especially those with neurological issues)."

That helps a lot because I was taking about 300mg once a day and that's not working.

I take way more than 300mg a day.. probably closer to 800-1000.

You take to "bowel tolerance."

Try glycinate .. or a mixture of several kinds.

Interesting cautions on mag glycinate:
