i am starting to get worse anxiety again but dont really want an antidepressant.. not sure.
i take 5 htp, l tyrosine, taurine, l theanine at times, have read gaba doesnt pass the barrier, and looked into a bunch of nootropics like phenibut (addictive), racetams, etc.
is vanpocetine okay to take?
not sure if i should try to get xanax or not.
any good things for anxiety?

- Yes, lyme can cause anxiety - for many reasons.
No, I would not suggest Xanax for that can have an opposite reaction to what you really want . . . and it may calm at first but then can boomerang. I had terrible x 10 reactions to Xanax.
I would try to stay away - far far away from Rx mood changers that force our brain with chemicals. There are other ways to approach this that are safer.
Vinpocetine can be helpful if you have any kind of vertigo or dizziness but it can be a little over-stimulating so if you get that, start low and slow. I suggest that before some of the other nootropics, though, as it has some very good properties. Not too late in the day, though.
And, if you take Vinpocetine, be certain that your adrenal support is very consistent and solid.
Nootropics also called smart drugs and MOST of these can be far too stimulating for someone with adrenal dysfunction so
No, I would never suggest Nootroopics for anxiety, never . . .
however I suggest instead: Gotu Kola as it's more balancing action of helping with alertness without that "wire me to the moon" effect of so many things that are intended to smarten us up. -

- 5 HTP made me incredibly depressed. It's not "supposed" to but it sure did. I tried it several times and always got the same bad reaction.
Be sure to consider that you might have a different reaction that what is "supposed" to happen. It can happen with just about anything so take it one thing at a time.
GABA, best to avoid as it can be very tricky to get it right and, again, other things better. I also had a hard time with that years ago. In general, I suggest nothing to push your brain / body in any direction.
Give your body the nutrients you need. Address inflammation and many things will improve. Turmeric / curcumin good there.
If at all possible a LL ND would be your best approach. Detail here about that, too:

- Back to your original question:
anxiety caused by lyme, possibly?
Yes, so stuff that is suggested is to help with support - nothing above will address lyme. It will not be enough, though, if lyme is not adequately addressed . . . coinfections, too.
Good luck as you figure out your puzzle. -

- Essential to anyone dealing with lyme. Cordyceps is a good place to start with good solid adrenal support. Adrenal support will usually replace anxiety with a degree of calm.

You could try a simple remedy, which is to breathe in very deeply and slowly, engaging your diaphram in breathing - ie - push it out, and then back in again, to get much more oxygen in, and see if that makes any difference for you.
