I started doxycycline 5 months after the tick bite (blood test is negative but with mild symptoms). First 300mg/d, and the 400mg/d. Now it is the sixth weeks and the symptoms improved in a certain degree. Shall I continue with doxy for longer time? Can I reduce it to 300mg/d? Should I take other things to treat cyst forms (like GSE)?
I am really confused. Can anybody help me and give some suggestions?

The best thing you can do is educate yourself on this disease which is really multiple diseases.

The best document you can read to educate yourself is the Burrascano Lyme Treatment Guidelines found here:

http://www.lymenet.org/BurrGuide200810.pdf

Burrascano was the lyme disease pioneer and became the premier lyme doctor in the world before he retired. They came from every country in the world to be treated by him.

The medications and proper dosages to treat lyme are listed starting on page 18.

Notice that many other infections (called coinfections) generally come along with lyme. Nobody gets just lyme diease. The most common ones are babesiosis and bartonella.

Each disease has its own unique treatment with different medicines. See the meds for babesiosis on page 22 and the treatment for bartonella on page 24.

Read the list of symptoms for each disease. On page 26 it will help you sort out which diseases you likely have.

Dr. Burrascano says that if you have been sick with lyme for at least 1 year, you definitely have coinfections also.

Lyme is such a complex disease to treat that it really takes an expert. Ideally, you want to go to a doctor who treats only lyme disease. That doctor likely has the expertise to cure you. Don't think that you can cure yourself. It is highly unlikely that you can.

Are you in the U.S.?

The main thing to know is that many doctors treat lyme disease but FEW, very few, know enough to get rid of it for a person. So, you need to ask around and find one of the few doctors who has successfully cured at least 3 people of the disease. I know some such doctors.

If you tell us where you are located, perhaps we can help you find the closest lyme specialist near you.

If you read and STUDY Burrascano's Guidelines, you will see that you need to stay on medications until you are symptom free and then for at least 2 more months. If you have a coinfection and you don't treat it, you will get sick again as soon as you stop treatment.

I know this document is not easy to read, but it will give you the best education on this disease that you have.

Welcome to Lymenet! We will help you here all we can.

Generally Doxy alone will not do it. It takes most of us many different trials with different combinations to find what works. And confections definitely complicate things a lot.

It sounds like you are trying to treat this yourself? You will really need to see a good LLMD for proper treatment. Its tough to dish out the money but its really necessary to get better.
