I go through bouts of normal bowel movements for days, diarrhea every now and then, and then constipation.

I've always had a skinny waist/gut until a few months ago-- around the time I started aggressive treatment. Now my stomach is huge- it looks very distended and like I'm pregnant at times. I need to emphasize I've always had a small waist/ gut until recently.

I showed my friend my belly the other day, and his face was priceless. He said, " that's not normal and it looks really bad" ( not in a mean way-- in a what in the world is going on/that's concerning way)

It feels like the top of my gut is never empty and backed up. Even when I take magnesium citrate or laxatives, it still feels like this.

I have a colonoscopy and endoscopy coming up, but I live in a state where "Lyme doesn't exist." I informed the gastroenterologist that I have Lyme, and he didn't openly balk at me.

Questions:

Any ideas as to what is going on?

Also, any suggestions as to what to ask the gastroenterologist to test for and look for?

Is a colonics a good idea to try every now and then it would it negate the antibiotics and supplements?

*diagnosed with Lyme, babesiosis, and bartonella.

Thanks so much.

Sounds like classic symptoms of candida to me. What are you taking for a probiotic?

Colonics are good for some of us .. not good for others. You'd have to try it to see how it goes for you.

Yes, it sounds like candida. I always knew when I was hit by it because of the extreme bloating it gave me.

Gluten, dairy?

Thanks, guys and gals. I'm gluten and casine free. So, that's not the culprit.

Can yeast cause this drastic of a reaction??

Yes. I looked pregnant when I had yeast. It generally starts in the mouth and goes into the stomach/gut with every swallow.

So, when I would get this, I had practically nothing I could wear, I was so big.

You have to ask your doc for Diflucan to kill it. Probiotics will NOT kill yeast.

Once you kill it, then stick strictly to the anti-yeast diet and take good probiotics a few times per day, especially before bed so the probiotics have all night to populate your gut.

Read page 34 of Burrascano. Look at your tongue when you first wake up tomorrow before you eat or drink anything. If you have yeast, it should show on the tongue. Then, cleanse your mouth per p. 34 and sprinkle a probiotic capsule on the tongue and let it stay there until totally dissolved.

However, once it is in the gut, you need Diflucan to kill it there. Call your doc on Monday and tell the symptoms and ask for Diflucan. Diet is extremely important if you are to keep yeast away when on antibiotic combinations.

Do everything Burrascano says including drinking some plain kefir every day. It is better than yogurt.

Always take the probiotics, kefir, and yogurt at least 2 hours after antibiotics. This way, the antibiotics won't just kill the probiotics in the stomach and you will have wasted your money and not achieved your goal.

"INTESTINAL TRACT: An overgrowth of yeast here will ferment dietary sugars and starches, forming acids, gas, alcohols and a variety of organic chemicals. Symptoms include gas, bloat, heartburn and/or pain in the stomach area, and because of the organic chemicals, there can be headaches, dizziness, lightheadedness, wooziness and post-meal fatigue." (p.34)

Have you treated parasites? ...do you have thrush ..? Some candida is nystatin and diflucan resistant. ..thinking sf722 ,oregano oil and monolaurin. ...colonics helped to get tuings moving ...you can see yeast as white slimeys ...but parasites are like undigested rice ...gastro may do endo or stool samples for basics but will not catch nematodes...wheres gael

Thanks so much for the feedback.

I haven't been treated for parasites. I plan to ask my LLMD about it next visit.

I take diflucan daily for a month then I take itraconazole for a month and repeat the cycle.

I don't have thrush that I know of, but I will check my mouth when I wake up tomorrow morning.

I take florastor and custom probiotics daily. Maybe I can increase the probiotics.

It might also be gastroparesis, which lyme can cause because it infects the nervous system. Nervous systems is connected to the digestive tract.

If that is the culprit, then your lyme treatment should help.

Poppy, my LLMD said it does sound like I have some small bowel dysfunction going on and recommended I see a gastro. I will mention this to both my LLMD and gastro. I've already talked to my gastro about checking for yeast. Thanks again.
