I will be getting a pic line in next week and then be starting IV Rocephin.
I heard from people that took it that I must get a prescription of something that will protect my gallbladder.
Has anyone had issues with there gallbladder while on Rocephin? What did you take to protect your gallbladder while on it.

I didn't have gallbladder issues while I was on IV rocepherin via PICC line, but we are all different and respond differently. I did have nasty herxes, but it helped in the long run. It's good practice to get your liver, kidney, and blood levels checked frequently. Best wishes.

From Burrascano Guidelines:
"PARENTERAL THERAPY
Ceftriaxone- Risk of biliary sludging (therefore often Actigall is co-administered- one to three tablets daily).
Adults and pregnancy: 2g q12 h, 4 days in a row each week" (page 18)
Rocephin is the brand name for ceftriaxone. So, you can see Burrascano is recommending Actigall. Some people still get sludge in their gallbladder and end up having to have the gallbladder removed.
So, at least if you go on Actigall, you will know that you did everything possible to try to prevent this.
Notice the dosage Burrascano recommends: 2 grams every 12 hours, 4 days per week. Or, on page 16 he says you can take 4 grams slowly once per day.
Expect that you may fall asleep after the 4 grams. That's what happened when my friend did it that way.
