I have had several root canals in the past. Lately, I have chronic pain in a molar.

Dentist said it had a deep cavity, which he filled last week. It continues to throb.

I am terrified of tooth pain. I dread having it pulled or a root canal.

I can either keep going with the pain (which is not unbearable, like tooth pain I have had in the past), or I can do a root canal or pull it.

What would you do? Root canals seem horrible...the ones I had were before my Lyme diagnosis years ago.

Thanks. Julie

I've had many teeth pulled since having this lovely disease!!! I still have many teeth problems but i'm doing nothing till I can't eat anymore.

Personally I would have it pulled, it's a back molar so you wont miss it.

What ever decision you make I hope the pain goes away.

When a deep filling is done, it hurts until the nerve shrinks. If it were me, I would give it a little more time till the nerve shrinks and keep hitting Lyme with my abx or herbs

because some people had to have their root canal teeth pulled because of Lyme. I have root canals and haven't had any problems and hope not to because I

am religious about my Buhner herbal treatment for Lyme and hope that saves me and my teeth. Good luck whatever you decide.

Give it time. It took an entire year for my new gold crown to stop hurting. We almost took it out. Glad we didn't.

If it were a back molar, I myself would have it pulled. Not sure I would ever do a root canal. We'll see.

Oh wow, thank you guys so much for your input and experiences!

Today I have had no tooth pain. But it comes and goes..when it comes, I freak out.

I had one tooth pulled and it freaked me out, actually I guess anything with teeth gives me anxiety.

I have not been addressing the lyme and co's at ALL for several years now, aside from supplements as per my nutritionist.

Looked for Japanese Knotweed today at my local health food store, figured I would start with that. They didn't have any.

I think I will wait out the pain, and hope you are right that it might need more time! That would be great.

My mom, who also had lyme (but died of a very rare cancer) also had HORRIBLE teeth. I have so many dental problems, like her.

Thanks again for your help.

I will also look at the Buhner protocol. JL

It sounds like your pain is going to resolve and the tooth will be OK. But Just for what it's worth, since I've gotten older, I have a new outlook on saving molars. If you have to have some of the smaller molars removed (forget what they're called) then, you'll need to have either a partial or a bridge put in

and in order to do that, you have to have a molar to abut it to or bridge it to. If you don't have a molar there, then you might not have enough support for your jaw.

Tulips-thank you, good points. I have had less pain over the past two days-I am hopeful that you are right, and the pain will resolve.

And bluelyme-thanks. I am going to find the knotweed..never heard of ozone shots in gums! WOW.
