I am wondering anyone on here can take a look at my rash I had last year. I have discussed my story on my earlier posts in this forum, and in the Seeking a doctor forum.

Anyway, I want to share this picture to see if anyone can try to identify it. Or, let me know if they agree that it could have been an Erythema Migrans rash.

I went to the doctor when this happened in April 2015. My GP didn't know what it was, but she was sure it wasn't associated with any kind of spider bite.

It didn't hurt, itch,or drain any fluid. It just felt hot to touch. Now, a year later I'm sick with mostly Lyme associated symptoms. As well as a positive EIA and one reactive band (23) on my WB Igm.

I am going to repost my photos privately below... they were attached here before, but I have removed those links

It is hard to see. The pictures aren't very good. Had I known that I would be sick now, I would have made sure the lighting was better.

Anyway, my concern is it does look alot like a bull's eye rash. But I was wondering what the little pit was in the middle. I don't know if you can see it, but the is a circle in the middle, like a pit.

It just stayed that way for about a month or two. I didn't even know it was there, my fiance pointed it out.

It just concerns me, because he was doing alot of fishing and Morel hunting last year, and he said he found ticks on him (not attached)

It looks like it could be a lyme rash.

Is the pit still there? Maybe you have always had it.

With lyme, there is often a red dot in the center of the rash. It is where the tick was attached. That dot can last for months. Do you remember if you had such a thing?

Regardless, it seems you have lyme and this was likely the rash you got when you got bitten.

Missy,

Your name is on all 3 links. It would be best to never have your name accessed by strangers. Hope there is way to show the photos and keep your identity private.

Anyone at all can see your links, and your name there. LymeNet is not a closed group. Some cell phones also leave a trace of your address on photos so that's something else to consider to protect yourself from identity theft.

Especially photo #3 could be. Hard to say definitively. Your test has a positive #23 that is lyme specific. So, with symptoms, etc. you would not need to rely on the photo alone.

Glad to hear you have a LLMD apt. in Missouri on Sept. 1.

Just keep these photos as part of your papers for your first visit. In the meantime, there are things you can do that can help you feel a bit better, too. You might read up on Stephen Buhner's books.

Mine was a raised, round blob, not like a bullseye at all. This article may be helpful. It describes EM rashes. (end Judie's quote)

Check all your personal care products, too.

A MYSTERIOUS RASH ON A WOMAN'S HANDS & LIPS STUMPED SPECIALISTS

- By Sandra G. Boodman - The Washington Post - July 28, 2014

Excerpts:

. . . At her second appointment Zirwas examined her back, confirming his hunch: The only strong reaction Omiatek displayed was to a chemical called

methyllisothiazolinone, MI for short, Methyl Isethionate

which is used in high concentration in hundreds of beauty and personal care products.

In Omiatek’s case, MI was in the new brand of “sensitive” baby wipes she had begun using a few weeks before the hand rash erupted. The pattern of the rash, which was on her right, dominant hand, matched the way one would use a wipe.

MI was also in the dishwashing soap she used as well as in her soap and shampoo . . . .

. . . estimates that about half of the approximately 300 MI allergy patients he has seen were using wipes. . . .

. . . Unlike shampoo or soap that is rinsed off, the substances in toilet wipes remain on the skin, in a part of the body where evaporation does not occur.

“It gets driven into the skin, perpetuating the problem,” said Zirwas, noting that it takes months for the rash to clear entirely after a patient stops using the product. . . .

. . . The concentration of MI in some personal-care products was increased about five years ago to replace other preservatives, including formaldehyde, which have been linked to health problems.

“People thought it was going to be” an effective replacement, Zirwas said, “but around two or three years ago, we started seeing an incredible increase in the number of people allergic to it.” . . .

. . . She also learned she was allergic to the brand of “sensitive baby sunscreen . . . .

[In some Seventh Generation products, so be care to not assume "good" products are as good as they may claim. I was shocked to realize I'd been using products with this in it. When I switched to ACURE Shampoo, my scalp healed]
