Hello all!

Does anyone know if long, long, longterm Doxy use can cause tendonitis? I have been on Doxy for many years without incident, but I have developed terrible tendonitis in my Achilles tendons in the last couple of months, without any sort of physical strain.

Thanks so much,

Pea

Sounds more like from the fluoroquinolones.

I also developed achilles tendon pain while on doxy (May-July) this year. However, it could have been lyme just doing its thing to my connective tissue. Sorry, don't know any more.

Lyme / TBD caused major tendonitis for me - even before diagnoses and with no treatment. Just consider that, too.

It was better the times I took doxycycline.

Also be sure to have excellent liver support on board at all times. It helps the body in a number of ways.

And be sure your "ergonomics" are excellent, too. No slouching, etc. This matters so much. If we find ourselves slouching due to fatigue, it's time to rest.

Proper chairs, lumbar supports, neck rests . . . wrist braces for nighttime wear and when ever wrists are strained . . . even how you hold a hair dryer should be assessed for proper body mechanics.

While doxycycline is not in this category of Rx, for reference:

Your SHOES, your shoes. Are they sturdy with proper support? Do you wear shoes all the time indoors, shoes that also have proper support? It's important.

You might want to see a podiatrist who can assess your gait and footwear.
