Hi,

My dr is now starting to treat me for bartonella. He gave me 800/160mg 4 times a day. Did anyone use this? Did it help you?

I now take Mepron, azithromycin, doxycycline, and the bacrtim.

What are your thoughts ???

Bactrim has some activity against bartonella, but is not a standard bartonella treatment at all.

The mepron and zith you are taking are for babesiosis.

The doxy and zith will treat lyme, but not the cyst form of lyme as far as we know.

The Bactrim is a babesiosis medication, but my lyme doc says that it will also hit bart.

To see the standard bart treatment, read Burrascano Guidelines (pages 24-25) and see this page by a lyme doc:

My doc used Bactrim DS (800/160) to treat me for babesiosis. But I took it twice per day. So, you are taking twice as much as I took per day.

I got rid of babs by taking the bactrim and artimesinin. This was over 11 years ago, praise God. And, I am still symptom free!

I took Bactrim for a very long time and it was fine

also treated Bart

but Rifampin/Azithromycin/Minocycline(or doxy, I guess) have been said to be really good against Bart - it takes a long time to give up or even let off enough you can feel it, but it did seem to have worked for me

I took Bactrim for months and I think it helped. But then I developed an allergy to it. If you get any kind of rash while on it, stop. Bactrim is notorious for rashes.

Doshey, You are on a higher dose than Bactrim than normally prescribed by LLMDS, but that is bc out doctor finds more success with this higher dose.

I also haven't had any Bactrim related problems that I'm aware of, Doshey.

Harmony - just wondering how long it usually takes to see some improvement from Bart on Rifampin/Zithromax. Years, or more like months? I know everybody is different, just trying to get an idea of how long I should take it. I took Rifampin for about 6 months and added Zithromax for a couple of months but am sure I didn't take it long enough as I still have symptoms.
